By 1998, Trey Parker and Matt Stone (the creators of South Park) had become such huge media icons that they were drafted to appear in this screwball comedy about the invention of a new sport (see title). Directed by David Zucker of Dumb and Dumber fame, the film is a loopy, light-hearted affair, and this soundtrack was compiled in much the same spirit. The focus here is on hot contemporary bands like Cherry Poppin' Daddies (whose version of the old calypso tune "Jump in the Line" is a highlight) and Nerf Herder. BASEKETBALL takes a decidely ska-friendly position with cuts from such third-wave favorites as Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger and Smashmouth. The latter score with their sped-up ska interpretation of War's classic "Why Can't We Be Friends." Even if nuevo-Ska isn't your cup of tea, there's enough straight-up rock (in the person of Soul Asylum, the Dickies and others) to keep you happy.
Producers include: Jay Rifkin, Ed Stasium, John Avila, Steve Perry, Rich Costey. Baseketball Soundtrack Music Basketball Baseketball Soundtrack Songs | 1. | Take on Me - Reel Big Fish |

Baseketball Soundtrack
$7.59 Principally recorded at NRG and The Hook, Hollywood, California; Front Page Studios, Burbank, California; Sonica, London, England from April through June 1997.
With the arrival of Save Ferris, the mid-'90s Cali-based ska-punk meltdown officially gets upgraded to an invasion. Full of candy-glossed, R&B-ish horns playing many BPM above the speed limit, four-on-the-floor punk guitars, and downbeat tempo breaks, IT MEANS EVERYTHING, the Orange County septet's full-length debut, is a study in the alterna-ska sound circa No Doubt and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Surprisingly, when Ferris stretch out of the form's musical and lyrical touchstones, they evade the skater's park audience in favor of a retro-lounge style that retains the island lilt. Think Squirrel Nut Zippers go to the Carribean.
