"When you look at me long enough/I start to read your thoughts/If your signal was strong enough/And then I call your bluff." Those words, along with the rest of Canibus' verse on the LL Cool J posse cut "4-3-2-1," sparked an intense battle between Canibus and LL. That battle led to Canibus' "2nd Round Knockout," a song directed at LL which not only dissed LL severely, but also showcased Canibus' incredible rhyming talent. Since then, the MC's debut album was highly anticipated.
His three-dimensional rhyme style gained Canibus critical acclaim for being one of the most innovative new MCs in hip-hop. With CAN-I-BUS, the debut album, Canibus delivers more of the battle-rhyme lyrics that are his stock in trade. Still, he manages to cover new ground with conceptually strong cuts like "I Honor U," which is dedicated to his mother. With his lyrical skills, Canibus represents the elements that helped build rap music.

Lyrical Genious
Canibus has always spit fire in his rhymes. I think this cd would back me up when listened to. I'm not sure who the producer is, but he is amazing with the beats on this album. I'm glad to see rappers that are talented and have an expanded vocabulary.

I think Cannibus is one of the most underrated rappers of all time. I am upset that he hasn't come out with a new album in a few years because his lyrics paired with his style or flow of rap, cannot be reproduced by anyone. Many have tried, all have failed.

when he first appeared on dj clue mixtapes u knew that he was on fire with witty and very crazy punchlines that would leave you in awe. This album is just a continuation of that. this cd is very good when he spits lines the listner has no choice but to be on the edge of seat and push rewind.

Canibus is sick on the mic. He's been a role model to me ever since Jr.High, the game needs him to return.
