Hot off the success of both Juvenile and B.G., Cash Money/Universal Records released the sophomore album from Hot Boys, GUERRILLA WARFARE. Featuring Juvenile, Young Turk, B.G., and Lil Wayne, these four MCs from New Orleans are pushing the southern-flavored hip-hop scene to new levels. The lead single, "We on Fire" is a blazing head-nodder that sounds like a perfect club joint. Packed with plenty of street bounce, you're sure to hear the track blasting from someone's Jeep.
Some of the other songs to check out are "Help," a track that is dominated by B.G.; "Get Out tha Way," with its unique synth flavorings; and "Clear the Set." There are also solo tracks from Juvenile ("You Dig"), Young Turk ("Bout Whatever"), and Lil Wayne ("Clear tha Set"). Fans of the Big Tymers should check out "I Need a Hot Girl."

Rolling Stone (9/30/99, p.88) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...the latest sparks in the [Southern bounce] explosion....rowdy and refined....The group's most notable gifts are its dead-serious singsong flows...and a remarkable ability to make relentless repetition sound inventive..." The Source (9/99, pp.301-2) - 4 1/2 mics (out of 5) - "...[Hot Boys] gives Southern bounce an artistic shot in the arm....achieves landmark immortality with its blazing soundtracks to a hard-knock existence....They rewrite the game over a steady stream of crushing beats and polyrhythmic concepts..." Rap Pages (10/99, pp.143-4) - "...a nearly flawless set of songs that mark the culmination of all their prior work....GUERRILLA WARFARE is a phenomenal album that adds another successful chapter to the [Cash Money Records] legacy." - Rating: B Hot Boys Guerrilla Warfare Songs | 1. | Intro (Hot & Spicy) |

Guerrilla Warfare CD music
$8.55 Today he's best known to most people as the man behind the classic PEANUTS music, but long before he jammed with Charlie Brown, Vince Guaraldi was making jazz inroads with his piano trio. As its title implies, JAZZ IMPRESSIONS OF BLACK ORPHEUS was Guaraldi's take on the groundbreaking Jobim score for the BLACK ORPHEUS film. While most of the album finds the prescient Guaraldi getting in on the ground floor of the U.S. bossa nova craze (though his take on these tunes doesn't ...
| | New Millennium Dance Party CD (2001)
Guerrilla Warfare music CDs
$16.15 Rhino's Millennium series is one of the most successful that they released in the early 21st century, not just in terms of sales, but in terms of giving the people what they want. They promise to deliver the biggest songs of a particular style on one disc, and while some cuts may be missing on certain discs, it's usually hard to argue with what's there. Nowhere is this more evident than on New Millennium Dance Party, a 19-track collection that attempts to dabble in every different dance style of the '90s, from the glitzy coked-out grooves of Stereo MC's and EMF to Jason Nevins' remix of Run-D.M.C., Moby's "Bodyrock," Olive's trip-hop "You're Not Alone," and the big beat of Fatboy Slim's "Right Here Right Now." Really, all that's missing are selections from the Chemical Brothers and the Prodigy, but it says a lot that this collection is so damned entertaining that they're not missed at all. This is a really fun party album, ...
