It's That Crazy New Dance Sweeping The Country
Personnel includes: Casper, Charles Green, Colta, DJ Eric B. Producers: Hudson Beaudy, Frederick L. Johnson, Ken Uchida, DJ Eric B, Men On Business. If you're looking for the infamous "Cha Cha Slide" song, this is where you'll find it. At first a Chicago phenomenon, the Cha-Cha Slide began strictly as a dance until early 2000 when Casper wrote an accompanying song to go along with the dance à la "Macarena." By early 2001, Universal had picked up the album for national distribution, igniting a small yet ultimately insignificant craze throughout mainly the Midwest. Besides the title track, there isn't much reason to seek out this album since the rest is undeniably filler, including variations on the title track. Novelty at its best and most commercial. ~ Jason Birchmeier Mr. C. The Slide Man is in fact Casper, a Chicago DJ who took clubgoers by storm with his "Cha-Cha Slide," an update of the "Electric Slide" dance craze. The album CHA-CHA SLIDE is full of variations on the steps that Mr. C patented, backed by the beats he put together to move the dancers' feet. The success of the album is unusual, as it's not really a pop record per se, but a dance album in the very literal sense of the word. Instead of offering club-style vocalizing, the canny Casper simply intones his directions on how to do the dance steps, punctuated by frequent exhortations designed to get dancers in the mood. Included are three different versions of the "Cha-Cha Slide," along with some other variations including Casper's own take on the venerable "Electric Slide."
Mr C The Slide Man Cha-Cha Slide Songs Cha-Cha Slide Music Review Average Rating: (3.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT!! I don't go out often, but when I go to a wedding reception, function hall, or
retirement party I ALWAYS enjoy the CHA CHA SLIDE and Electric Slide...THIS CD is not what I'm use to hearing. I'm African-American... my folks, DONT BUY THIS!!! BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, I WISH I COULD RETURN IT AND GET MY MONEY BACK!!! I'll either break it in two or give it away!! I kept waiting while listening to anticipating more familiarity, but it never happened.. I REALLY GIVE 0 STARS! Submitted by Trish (Boston, MA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

A COOL DANCE FROM WAY BACK IN THE DAY! I am a mobile DJ and the Electric Slide is still requested all the time. Now Mister C has added the new song Cha-Cha-Slide to the mix. I had never heard of this song until I got lots of requests for this song and I was glad that I was able to find it on CD Universe! Cha-Cha Slide
$6.49 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. If you're looking for the infamous "Cha Cha Slide" song, this is where you'll find it. At first a Chicago phenomenon, the Cha-Cha Slide began strictly as a dance until early 2000 when Casper (aka Mr. C the Slide Man) wrote an accompanying song to go along with the dance à la "Macarena." By early 2001, Universal had picked up the album for national distribution, igniting a small yet ultimately insignificant craze throughout mainly the Midwest. | | Chamillionaire Sound Of Revenge CD (2005) Parental Advisory
Cha-Cha Slide
$13.19 Personnel: Chamillionaire (rap vocals); Killer Mike, Krayzie Bone, Lil Wayne, Pastor Troy, Rasaq, Scarface, Lil' Flip, Natalie , Bun B (rap vocals). With THE SOUND OF REVENGE, Chamillionaire's 2005 Universal debut, the Houston-based rapper makes the most of his major-label deal, which includes his own Chamillitary imprint. On SOR, Paul Wall's former collaborator amps up that duo's signature chopped-and-screwed mixtape sound with heavy-duty arrangements that expertly showcase Chamillionaire's deep, husky voice. The introductory title track is marked by machine-gun beats, and establishes the album's fierce, restless mood. But the disc's highlight is the utterly infectious single "Turn It Up," which boasts Scott Storch's distinctive chiming production and an appearance by Lil' Flip. Although fellow Texan Bun-B, Krayzie Bone, and others also show up, REVENGE doesn't rely on guest shots; this is Chamillionaire's show through and through, as proven by each track on this assured and potent record. An experienced MC with piles of mixtapes and other underground releases in his past, Chamillionaire follows Mike Jones, Slim Thug, and Paul Wall as yet another Houstonian to surface aboveground in 2005. He's immeasurably superior to Jones in every aspect but self-promotion, isn't quite as imposing as Slim Thug, and, compared to childhood ally and former Color Changin' Click partner Wall, he's much sterner than sweet, indicated by the title of this album. The Chamillionaire that Southerners and other rabid followers of Southern rap have been hearing throughout the past few years hasn't made many concessions with this major-label release. He goes relatively soft on a couple tracks, but the tradeoff is that he continues to get better with time, and an overwhelming majority of the material here is only a slightly polished spin on what can be heard on his mixtapes. Even when the MC is at his most vengeful, he boasts an easy flow that's as easy to listen to as a warm, fluid bassl

| | Don Ellis At Fillmore CDs (1970)
Cha-Cha Slide
$13.59 Personnel: Don Ellis (trumpet, drums); Don Ellis; Lonnie Shetter (woodwinds, saxophone, wind); Lonnie Shetter (woodwinds); Sam Faizone, John Clark (saxophone, wind); Don Switzer, Don Switzer (bass trombone); Doug Bixby (tuba, double bass); Don Quigley (tuba); Doug Bixby (contrabass tuba); Dennis Parker (bass instrument); Ron Dunn, Ronnie Dunn (drums, percussion); Ralph Haumphrey, Ron Dunn, Ralph Humphrey (drums); Jay Graydon (guitar); Fred Selden, John Klemmer (woodwinds, saxophone, wind); Jon Clarke, Sam Falzone (woodwinds, saxophone); John Rosenberg, Stewart Blumberg, Glenn Stuart, Jack Coan (trumpet); Ernie Carlson, Glenn Ferris (trombone); Tom Garvin (piano); Lee Pastora (congas). Liner Note Author: Don Ellis. Recording information: Bill Graham's Fillmore West (06/1970). Arrangers: John Klemmer; Don Ellis; Fred Selden; Les Hooper; Hank Levy. This is a crazy and consistently riotous two-disc set that features the Don Ellis Orchestra at its height. The 20-piece orchestra (with trumpeter Ellis doubling on drums along with a regular drummer and two percussionists) often used electronic devices (such as ring modulators) at the time to really distort its sound. When coupled with odd time signatures and such exuberant soloists as Ellis, trombonist Glenn Ferris, tenor saxophonist John Klemmer (showcased on the remarkable "Excursion II"), guitarist Jay Graydon, altoists Fred Selden and Lonnie Shetter, and tenor Sam Falzone, the results are quite memorable. Highlights of the date include "Final Analysis" (which contains a countless number of false endings), a bizarre rendition of "Hey Jude," and an often hilarious remake of "Pussy Wiggle Stomp." In 2005, the Wounded Bird label reissued this session on CD for the first time. Unfortunately, no bonus tracks were available. ~ Scott Yanow & Al Campbell
