With the dual guitar attack of Wurzel and Phil Campbell solidified after the release of 1986's ORGASMATRON (Motorhead's strongest studio album since 1980's classic ACE OF SPADES), the band went directly back into the studio to record a follow-up, 1987's ROCK 'N' ROLL. The album featured the welcome return of original drummer Phil Taylor, who had been briefly replaced by ex-Saxon drummer Pete Gill.
As the title suggests, ROCK 'N' ROLL is another slice of no frills, straight-ahead Motorhead power rock. While not as consistent as the aforementioned ORGASMATRON, the band offers another in a long line of tasteless classics in the form of "Eat the Rich." Other standouts, such as the title track and "Stone Deaf in the U.S.A.," will please longtime fans.
Recorded in 1987. Includes liner notes by Stefan Chirazi.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.

What more can be said about the excellent releases that metal-is(BMG) is putting on the market? they have restored artwork and the music is remastered, if you don't know what kind of music motorhead plays, then you don't know the meaning of TRUE rockn'roll!

I consider this a "lost" album simply because it was sandwiched between the 2 more high-profile Motorhead albums 'Orgasmatron' and '1916'...although this album did reunion-ize drummer "Philty Animal" Taylor to the fold. Why this album hasn't gotten more credit, I don't know. My favorites include the blazing title track, the more groove-oriented "Dogs", and the unbelievably melodic (!!!) "All For You" (fans of this particular song should definitely check out Leatherface who made a career out of sounding like a very melodic Motorhead). The "hit" on this album was "Eat The Rich" - which, in my opinion, is nothing more than an average song. Also of note is the Michael Palin introduction to "The Wolf" (he co-owned the studio they recorded this in), and the 2 B-side bonus tracks, taken from the "Eat The Rich" 12".

Here's a breakdown of the tracks, along with some fan comments.Track 1--PARIS HILTON (Swisher/Sherry) Hard driving rock/pop tongue-in-"cheek" commentary on the state of society and its fascination with a certain socialite. "I was immediately reminded of 'Hot Rod Honeymoon' from Jeff Beck but also an 'Exile On Main Street' Stones feel as well as an early 80's ZZ groove. This song has MTV hit written all over it!" Track 2--SURFIN' VAQUERO (Sherry) Slick instrumental by John Sherry that blends surf and flamenco. Well, the title says it all."Pretty melody with an arrangement done a la Dire Straits, which Cheeky Spanks does so well." Track 3--RAIN (Childers/Swisher/Sherry)Hypnotic feel with some great background vocals and the phenomenal John Sherry guitar work."There's an incredibly rich, wonderful quality here in Jill's voice (not unlike Bonnie Bramlett's best). A very nice track that feels good."Track 4--JUST ONE KISS (Childers) Another love song from Jill Childers, the band's resident hopeful romantic. Biography of Dethin Charles Dethin Charles, born Charles Dethin Jamison Junior, was born May 18, 1978 not far fromhis fathers hometown in Mckenzie, Tn. At the age of one his family moved to Tulsa, Ok. His fatherwas Charles Dethin Jamison Senior, mother Ulina Jamison, older brothers Mandale and Richard, and soon to come baby sister, Tammy. He began singing at the age of five and was and still a verybig fan of Michael Jackson (you'll notice the influence on his album). Being that he was a preacher'skid, the love of God was heavily instilled in him, but rebellion also had it's presence. Although Dethin grew up in the church, he was surrounded by street figures who would in time influence him togo astray. All the while he would write and record songs but never gave it the proper commitment until he became married with children which by that time his responsibility to his family would drown out his efforts to succeed. He and his family moved to Atlanta, Ga. After the failure of the album. Three years passed and they moved back to Oklahoma. Being that the economy for his tradewas so different in Oklahoma, he couldn't make the same kind of money he had made in Atlanta sohe would resort back to the streets but even deeper this time.
