SIMPLE GIFTS features instrumental arrangements of Shaker melodies.
Simple Gifts is a collection of instrumental versions of the songs of the Shakers, a charismatic Christian sect that flourished in the United States in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Guitarist William Coulter and cellist Barry Phillips are both members of the acoustic group Orison, and they draw on a pool of fellow Gourd-label musicians to support them, as well as Windham Hill artist Mike Marshall who appears on nearly all the tracks playing mandolin, mandocello, violin or viola. From the very familiar to the relatively obscure, this is a charming album that mixes the simplicity and liveliness of American folk music with the elegant reverence of hymns. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats

Scottish singer/songwriter Joseph Malik and his collaborator and producer David Donnelly have been on the underground scene since the late 1990s. They began as the duo MF Outa National, recorded an album for Mo' Wax Headz, and issued a number of EPs on Stereo MC's Response label as Black Anized. But it wasn't until Malik conceived his "Futuristica" project -- where he not only began to actively encounter, but also to incorporate, elements of nu-jazz and the sound coming out of Manchester's New Century Soul Club into his work, along with organic textures and acoustic instruments -- that it all came together into something wildly original and wonderfully wrought. Produced by Donnelly, Malik issued the brilliant Diverse in 2002. That set was filled with acoustic folk/soul/jazz tunes that took the nod from pioneers like Terry Callier and Sheree Brown, and turned into something distinct and modern.

Lee HazzardLee Hazzard was put together in order to bring that distinct sound of classic rock musicto fans of this music genre. Lee Hazzard consists of Gary Hornbeck on guitar and lead vocals, Mike Dalamore on bass guitar and lead vocals and Scott Dalamore on drums and vocals. The band was formed in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada and is currently working on the live show and will be announcing tour dates soon. Gary Hornbeck:The founding member of Lee Hazzard originally started his music career in the central Ontario region of Canada. Learning a few chords at the tender age of eleven ,Hornbeck did not have thoughts of rock and roll stardom or even playing music for a living. At the age of nineteen Hornbeck was taught a pentatonic blues scale and was fascinated. Thus began an incredible love for the guitar and music. After playing in several rock bands around Ontario, Hornbeck moved to Orlando, Florida and teamed up with Riff West, [Molly Hatchet, Foghat] to form the band “Third Degree” The highlite of that band was playing onstage with Molley Hatchet in Altamont Springs Fla. After that Hornbeck moved back to Ontario where he co founded the band Sleight of Hand, with good friend and song writing partner, D. J.
