| | Braid Frame & Canvas CD Braid Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Braid's existence was fairly brief, but their skilled fusion of tight math rock rhythms and scruffy post-hardcore can be found all over a legion of young emo bands all over the country. Their final album, FRAME AND CANVAS saw them fully flower into a powerhouse band, all yelping youthful enthusiasm, wistful melodies, and crashing stop-start guitars. Despite the punk lineage, Braid is more rambunctious than aggressive, and the songs are for starry-eyed and sentimental young men and women too old for hardcore but too young to quit going to shows. The everyday romance in songs like "A Dozen Roses" and "Collect from Clark Kent" is bittersweet, snatches of memory held in the album title's vessels, and the plainspoken ache in singer Bob Nanna's voice carries the suggestion of regret without leaping into melodrama. People who have forgotten the emotion in emo would do well to listen to FRAME AND CANVAS.
Final album from the influential Champaign, Illinois, post-hardcore band is a blueprint for wistful, intelligent emo.

| | Braid Movie Music Vol. 1 CD (2000)
Frame & Canvas songs
$9.55 This is a collection of tracks from 7"s which also includes one unreleased studio track.
The Braid catalog expanded with surprising regularity after the emo pioneers broke up in 1999. Among their posthumous efforts, Movie Music, Vol. 1 and its sequentially titled companion piece are perhaps the most collectable of these postmortem offerings. This first volume is a complete collection of songs from the group's many 7" singles. Braid was notorious for keeping much of their best material off of the full-length releases, so this collection is of no small interest. Like volume two, Movie Music, Vol. 1 is chronologically sequenced, thus allowing listeners an opportunity to chart the band's growth. Established fan favorites like "I'm Afraid ...
| | Braid Movie Music Vol. 2 CD (2000)
Frame & Canvas album
$9.39 This is a collection of compilation tracks and unreleased material.
Initially packaged together for pre-order with its singles companion piece, Movie Music, Vol. 2 -- Braid's complete collection of compilation tracks and cover recordings -- was eventually released separately from the similarly titled collection Movie Music, Vol. 1. Not nearly as consistent as its immediate predecessor, volume two features some clunky early recordings in its chronologically sequenced compilation section. These first-ever Braid recordings ...

Frame & Canvas songs
$32.99 New York post-punk band Diffuser's 2003 album MAKING THE GRADE features "Only In the Movies" and "Get It On."
Among its energetic bursts of poppy, punkish energy, Diffuser's 2001 effort, Injury Loves Melody, still clung to vestiges of the band's noisier indie rock past. It made for a more ambitious record, but one also fraught with continuity errors -- Diffuser couldn't decide whether they wanted to go all-out with the pop screech. If that was the case, then frontman Tomas Costanza has finally made the decision and taken the pop plunge. He's the sole songwriter for Making the Grade, and has turned in a completely unthreatening, tinfoil-and-plastic batch of songs about girls and sarcasm, all amped to 11 and akin to the outsized modern rock of types like Lit and Goldfinger. Actually, with perfect pop-punk ...

Frame & Canvas music CDs
$29.09 Malene Mortensen emerged on the Danish jazz scene with her 2003 recording debut as a leader for Universal in Europe, following it up with this release for Stunt. With her fresh, engaging vocals and the potential to establish a following in both jazz and pop like Norah Jones, Mortenson isn't really an improviser, but she works with top-notch musicians who create fresh arrangements of standards, while she also proves herself ...
