Red Crow Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) beautiful and energetic I'm all about the Irish dance music. If you are a fan of the slip jig, Altan actually records some beautiful ones. They also have rollicking reels, jigs, and hornpipes. If you are a fan of the songs with lyrics, they have a nice variety of instrumental selections and singing. My first Celtic CD, but it won't be my last With the caveat that this review is by a novice in the area of Celtic music, I want to say that this album fulfilled the hopes I had when I purchased it. The music style ranges from high energy to dreamy, and Mairead's vocals are very beautiful. Her voice is pure, with a good range. I am looking forward to hearing more of Altan's work. Red Crow album
$17.35 Named for a lake in vocalist/fiddler Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh's native Donegal, Altan has firmly established itself as one of the foremost traditional bands in Irish music. RUNAWAY SUNDAY finds them continuing to expand their musical boundaries, in effect re-defining the very musical tradition from which they draw inspiration. Mixed in with the traditional tunes are lyrics and music composed by the band members themselves: "Time Has Passed," an ominous, slow song, and the ...

| | Altan Harvest Storm CD (1992)
Red Crow music CDs
$13.89 Altan has long been one of the most consistently thrilling of the current crop of traditional Irish groups, and it's difficult to pick a single highlight from their catalog. But if pressed, many fans and critics would pick either Harvest Storm or the equally fine Red Crow. Although the program is a fairly typical collection ...
| | Altan Another Sky CD (2000)
Red Crow songs
$12.79 The whole Celtic music craze turned many opportunistic American musicians into Irish Rovers, but this joyous mix of traditional jigs and folksy tunes by six natives is the real deal. The band features two fiddlers, an accordionist, a bouzzouki player, and two guitarists, with lead vocals by Maircad Ni Mhaonaigh, switching off in mood and tempo from track to track. The opening number "Bcidh Aonach Amarach" ("There's a Fair Tomorrow") sets the tone with a festive, skipping ...

| | Everly Brothers Show CD (1970)
Red Crow songs
$13.89 On Wednesday, July 8, 1970, at 9 p.m. EDT, the ABC television network broadcast the first of 11 weekly episodes of The Everly Brothers Show, a one-hour musical variety program that was the summer replacement for The Johnny Cash Show. The same month, Warner Bros. Records released a double LP (later reissued as a single CD) also called The Everly Brothers Show. But the album was not a soundtrack to the TV series; it was a live recording that had been made five months earlier at the Grand Hotel in Anaheim, CA, at which the duo of Don and Phil Everly, backed by an electric guitar/bass/drums trio, played a mixture of their old hits, some newer songs, and various cover material. There was a sort of autobiographical structure to the show, at least at first, as Don Everly began with a spoken introduction that harked back to the brothers' youth, leading into a series of songs loosely related ...
