Purchase Soup CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Christopher CD (1970)
Soup album
$11.29 From the psychedelic tribal blues opener "Dark Road" through to the end of the album, Christopher shows just how strong the second-level psychedelia of the late '60s could be. There was no shortage of great musicians hailing from Texas during the era, and the ones who remained in the state were forming some of the most idiosyncratic bands of the swirling, inventive times: top-flight bands such as Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Lost & Found, the Golden Dawn, and Christopher. Christopher, though, cannot exactly be lumped together with those peers. They had to leave Texas for California to make their mark, and indeed, Christopher owes a good deal ...
| | Stack Above All CD (1966)
Soup CD music
$11.29 Don't let the murky sound quality, almost certainly a result of imperfect source tapes, fool you; Above All is an above-average slab of snotty garage psychedelia. The cloudy sound actually enhances the album in certain ways. The stab at "Da Blues" gives the song not exactly an authenticity but a grittiness that gives the performance the sound and texture of a live recording. The psychedelic cuts, on the other hand, have an enveloping claustrophobic sound that traps the listener beneath the music. While probably meant to be experienced under the influence of certain chemical enhancers, the music is trippy enough on its own to send the listener on a trip of sorts. That wouldn't matter, of course, if the songs were not strong ...
| | Peeling Of Tangerine CD (1999)
Soup music CDs
$11.29 Led by the multi-instrumentalist Ferraro brothers Al and Crash (they mainly played guitar), Tangerine started playing together in the late '60s, but the group's sole album was released in 1971. In many ways, The Peeling of Tangerine is a stellar, accomplished album. More than anyone, the band recalls a slightly heavier Santana; the music is full of Latin chord progressions, salsafied and tribal drumming and percussion, and Al Ferraro's beautiful guitar work, as well as some of the dynamics of early '70s psychedelia and soul. The band doesn't stake out their own musical ground and the songs are not altogether distinctive enough; more often than not, they sound like structureless (but not ...

$11.29 KEEP ON TRUCKIN' contains all the tracks from the original LP of the same title as well as 2 previously unreleased songs recorded in 1970.
Yet another rock band that emerged out of the copious student population of countercultural Wisconsin, Tongue spent ten years developing into one of the most road-savvy ensembles in the state. But Keep on Truckin' ...

| | Dieter Hilpert Full Circle CD (2005) (Import) Australia
Soup album
$27.19 FULL CIRCLE is an album of both new material and old Little River Band hits performed by the three singers from that Australian soft rock combo, including "Reminiscing" and "Happy Anniversary."
If they had had the foresight, maybe Beeb Birtles, Glenn Shorrock, and Graham Goble would have followed the practice of one of their big musical influences when they formed the core of a group joined by three other Australian musicians in the mid-'70s. Several years earlier, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Stephen Stills had deliberately named their new ensemble Crosby, Stills & Nash on the notion that, unlike their previous groups, the Byrds, the Hollies, and Buffalo Springfield, this band couldn't be billed under the group name unless all of them were present. Instead, Birtles, Shorrock, and Goble named their outfit Little River Band, and it went on to the kinds of personnel changes common to many pop groups, continuing well into the 21st century without any of the original members. So, when the three principals decided to re-form, none of them had rights to the name and, as with the version of Yes that toured and recorded as Anderson-Bruford-Wakeman-Howe in 1989, they were finally forced to use their own names while performing ...
| | Sugababes Three CD (2003) (Import) Hong Kong
Soup CD music
$15.75 The third album from the urban girl trio SUGABABES features a more complex and sophisticated sound.
Sugababes straightforwardly titled third release may have lacked a single quite as striking as "Freak Like Me," the tremendous electro-clash/mash-up cash-in smash from their breakthrough sophomore set, Angels with Dirty Faces, but otherwise it improves on that album in many respects. Following the same essential ...
