Unlikely as it seems, Injected manages the tricky feat of establishing themselves as a vital young hard-rock band in 2002 without falling into the camps of rap-metal, Blink-182 pop-punk, or any of the other faddish subgenres contemporaneous with burn it black. Like any heavy rockers worth their Marshalls, they have roots in the likes of Led Zep and early Metallica. Beyond that, the closest parallel might be the spare, artful way that Helmet utilized heavy riffs and rhythms a decade earlier. | | Paul Miller November CD (2008)
Appetite For Disruption CD music
$12.15 \"November\" was born from Paul\'s attempts to write a song a day, an endeavor which occupied him for a year or so in 2004 and 2005, at the end of which he had a stack of tunes on topics ranging from hearses, to eternity, to musical experiences and lost loves. Anyway, I\'m sure you get the picture... In keeping with the way the album was composed, the recordings focused on live performances by Paul with his guitar, to which other instruments were added later. Helping him out with vocals and other instruments were Shannon Downey, Tonya Plinsky, and T.J. Lipple. What if Tom Petty’s songs had been written by J. D. Salinger? Or Lucinda Williams had collaborated with Warren Zevon? Or what if Ryan Adams wrote music to accompany Steve Earle’s short stories? If they did, you’d probably have a good handle on the music of Paul Miller. Against a backdrop of familiar and yet distinctive musical fabrics, Paul’s narratives and character studies stand out for their keen observations of universal emotions – from the whimsical to the profound and reflective. A prolific songwriter, Paul’s primary method is to write as many songs as possible, and then to go back to pick out groups of songs that suggest a common theme for rewriting and revision before going into the studio. The result is a finely crafted selection of material that stimulates the brain as well as the heart. Paul has worked with ...
