5 stars One of the Best 3-piece bands ever!
This is actually my favorite Wendy/Plasmatics record of all (although I like all of the last ones mostly from Coup D'Etat or Coup D'Grace on). I like it because the guitar, vocals are awesome. This is the only 3-piece line-up Wendy and the Plasmatics ever had so it's interesting from that point of view. Wes Beech produced along with Rod Swenson, and it would have been a perfect album if he'd played on it, but it is still groundbreaking. It's not as political as most of their stuff in the lyrics but the whole idea of a woman singing like this, fast and hard, is political enough to break all stereotypes and taboos.

This two-fer reissue from New York shock merchants the Plasmatics makes for a somewhat odd pairing, with the band's most punk-friendly album, 1980's New Hope for the Wretched, matched up with the 1981 EP Metal Priestess, where the band made its first clear bid for acceptance by the world's heavy metal kids. Truth be told, the shift isn't as disorienting as some might expect; a listen to New Hope makes it clear guitarists Richie Stotts and Wes Beech already had at least one toe dipped in the hard rock pool from the very beginning, ...

This 2000 disc (re-released in 2002 by Plasmatics Media) constitutes the only album of fresh material from the Plasmatics since their disbanding in 1983.
