It the late 1960s and early `70s, there was a vague trend of American blues and jazz pioneers (and even a few rock & rollers) traveling to England to record with the young British musicians they had inspired and influenced. In this way, the American artists might well be exposed to a new, younger audience. Herbie Mann made the trek and got together with Mick Taylor (ex-Rolling Stones), Albert Lee, Aynsley Dunbar (John Mayall, Frank Zappa, Journey), and legendary jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli. The result is the jazzy, rocking, and jamming gem that is LONDON UNDERGROUND, originally released in 1974.
This is the first time this classic album has been issued on CD anywhere in the world. Jazz great's '74 release recorded in London and originally released on Atlantic. Guests include Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (a cover of 'Bitch' is featured), Albert Lee, and Stephane Grappelli who appears on a cover of Donovan's 'Mellow Yellow'. 2000 release. Standard jewelcase.
