| | Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Speed Of Life CD (2009)
Storm In A Teacup CD music
$15.05 Speed of Life is the first studio album by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in five years and celebrates the group's 43rd anniversary with three of its original members still intact (and no, the number 43 was not a typo). It also finds them reduced once more to a quartet with the departure of multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Ibbotson. That said, the band has lost none of its immediacy, power, or expert presentation of both original material and songs from some of Nashville's finest. Released by Sugar Hill Records (who distributes their NGDB Records imprint), the group recorded the set live in the studio. Produced by veterans George Massenburg and Jon Randall Stewart, this set sounds inspired, fresh, and like the NGDB has been utterly rejuvenated. It combines the old-/good-timey feel of their concert performances -- without adding American folk or country standards -- and the poignancy of their best studio recordings. Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden, Bob Carpenter, and John McEuen were aided on ...

Storm In A Teacup album
$15.65 Five studio albums into his career, Dierks Bentley has carved a successful niche for himself on the Nashville scene, and FEEL THAT FIRE continues to exploit his strengths. | | Band Of Heathens One Foot In The Ether CD (2009) Digipak
Storm In A Teacup CD music
$12.95 As you might expect from a group fronted by three singer/songwriters, the material on One Foot in the Ether is uniformly strong. The band's principals -- Colin Brooks, Gordy Quist, and Ed Jurdi -- all share writing and publishing credits, and since all three play several instruments, the album boasts a diversity of sounds and styles. The first thing that strikes you is how many of these tunes sound like gospel music. Given the name of the band, it's a real surprise. "Shine a Light" is a mellow, call-and-response number with churchy organ, stinging slide guitar, and an uplifting lyric. "You're Gonna Miss Me" is a blues with a gospel tinge, although the lyric is strictly secular. An odd, stuttering, New Orleans backbeat supplied by drummer John Chipman and rousing group vocals make the track take fire. "Let Your Heart Not Be Troubled" is a love song with a strong hint of gospel and a deep spiritual feeling, ...

| | Mary Zitnik Totally Catholic CD (2007)
Storm In A Teacup CD music
$18.99 Totally Catholic, the debut solo album by Mary Zitnik, was inspired by and written for kids but is enjoyed by young and old alike. Written and performed by Zitnik, Totally Catholic is a divinely inspired journey through the Catholic Faith from Sacraments to Scripture. Mary Zitnik is an accomplished artist who has participated in several Grammy award-winning recordings with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and has sung with influential musicians from Pavarotti to David Byrne of Talking Heads. In a departure from her usual style, Zitnik felt called to spread the faith in an album especially for children and thus, Totally Catholic was born. Blending her amazing vocals and superior writing with the production talents of twenty-year veteran Rob Robinson, who produced the likes of Styx and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Totally Catholic is simply a musical joy. With its varied styles of reggae, lullaby, pop, folk, and even a super-hero anthem devoted to Saint Michael, it is engaging from beginning to end. While the album is meant for children, adults also find themselves inspired and thus, Totally Catholic ...
