| | Constellation Orchestra Perfect Love Affair CD - Import Constellation Orchestra Discography of CDs
The disco era of the late '70s was full of manufactured studio acts, a label or producer would bring a bunch of studio musicians and vocalists together, record an LP or single and hope that dance club DJs would be receptive. Manufactured studio acts weren't meant to have longevity or test an A&R person's artist development skills, the goal was a quick hit. In 1978, one such act was the Constellation Orchestra, a disco/funk project that was the brainchild of guitarist Moses Dillard and bassist Jesse Boyce. Dillard and Boyce did all of the writing and producing on Perfect Love Affair, which was Constellation's only album. The vinyl LP received very little radio airplay on either R&B or pop stations, although it did enjoy some exposure in dance clubs. While none of the album's four songs are terribly original or distinctive, the grooves are infectious and the arrangements are attractive. If you were into frequenting dance clubs back in the late 1970s, hearing "Funk Encounters," "Cosmic Melody," "Dancing Angel," or the title song could easily make you want to leave your table and head for the dance floor. The decent, if limited, Perfect Love Affair (which Unidisc reissued on CD in 1992) isn't recommended to casual disco fans, but is worth hearing if you're an obsessive disco collector. ~ Alex Henderson Perfect Love Affair Music Constellation Orchestra Perfect Love Affair Songs | 1. | Perfect Love Affair |

Perfect Love Affair album
$22.99 Argent's back catalog remains in a parlous state 20 years on from the group's peak, with great swathes of the repertoire unavailable on CD, and even some of the band's best-known and loved recordings are still chained up in a vault somewhere. Thankfully, this two-fer rendering of their first two albums is an exception to that sorry rule, as the group's transformation from the logical successors to the Zombies into one of the finest prog bands of the early '70s is traced out across 19 songs, almost any of which would be a shoo-in for some future "best-of" Argent compilation. It is true, of course, that Argent was prone to excess on occasion -- what is remarkable is just how naturally the band approached that state, as songs build on their own momentum toward peaks that even the best oiled of the group's peers audibly struggled to approach. The combination of Rod Argent's keys and Russ Ballard's words and vocals is, of course, key to this success, and both "Dance in the Smoke" and "Lothlorien" offer firm pointers as to just how tight the union would become. Elsewhere, "Liar," "Schoolgirl," ...
| | Larry Levan Paradise Garage CD (1995)
Perfect Love Affair CD music
$11.45 LARRY LEVAN'S PARADISE GARAGE is a collection of some of the remix work of the legendary DJ, who died in 1992. The title refers to the world-famous late '70s/early '80s New York underground club, considered one of the birthplaces of house music. Originally released on Salsoul as LARRY LEVAN'S GREATEST HITS VOL. 2, this album was the first to give top billing to the remixer as opposed to the artists being remixed.
Possibly because of his early death, Larry Levan's name is not often mentioned as one of the pioneering ...

Perfect Love Affair music CDs
$13.05 This expansive compilation focuses on a series of disco songs released on theT.K. Records label, most of which date from the mid- to late '70s. Despite the seemingly limiting "disco" tag, The Best of T.K. Disco presents a nicely diverse cross section of material from this genre: Indeed, the music covers everything from the lush, almost symphonic Euro-disco of Beautiful Bend's "That's the Feeling" to the earthy, bass-driven funk ...
| | Robert Palmer Riptide CD (1985)
Perfect Love Affair songs
$5.65 On 1985's RIPTIDE, Robert Palmer went from being a mere successful rock musician to one of the hottest figures in the music business. With a title that could have doubled as the title of a Miami Vice episode, RIPTIDE sold by the millions. While two MTV videos facilitated the record's success, Palmer had earned it; he was in his third decade as a professional musician, and he had also written the record's smash hit "Addicted to Love."
With a drum sound that sounded as if it were recorded in God's personal recording studio, "Addicted to Love" endures as ...

| | Luther Vandross Never Too Much CD (1981) Remastered
Perfect Love Affair album
$7.59 Also available in a 3-pack with FOREVER, FOR ALWAYS, FOR LOVE and BUSY BODY.
Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
In hindsight, Luther Vandross's debut should be viewed as one of the most important R&B records of the 1980s. With its balance of slick, buoyant, uptempo numbers and lush, mid-tempo tunes, both of which are distinguished by Vandross's inimitably smooth voice and delivery, '81's NEVER TOO MUCH ushered in a distinctive brand of satin-sheeted, romantic R&B that carried throughout the rest of the decade and into the '90s and 2000s.
The writing, arrangements, and performances on the album are consistently strong, and many of the cuts made significant dents in the R&B charts (including the title track, which went to number one). Yet it is Vandross's treatment of the Bacharach-David song "A House Is Not ...
| | Stiff Little Fingers Hope Street CD (1999) (Import) Bonus Tracks; United Kingdom
Perfect Love Affair CD music
$14.45 HOPE STREET, the 1999 release from Stiff Little Fingers, contains two exclusive interview tracks.
EMI was really playing with fire here, coupling HOPE STREET, the re-formed Stiff Little Fingers' 1999 album, with a dozen remastered numbers from the original band's heyday across a two disc set. But, oddly, it works. Does the newer material hold a candle to these many punk masterpieces? Not always, but SLF weren't trying to re-create the past, having long ago moved on. Much of HOPE STREET is washed in R&B, an influence their initial spit and snarl easily overwhelmed, but now it's allowed to come to the forefront, most spectacularly on the ...

"Take You Out" and "I'd Rather," Vandross' chart entries from Luther Vandross, are included (the former in its original version and in a "remixed" version). ~ William Ruhlmann
The Luther Vandross entry in BMG International's Artist Collection series of compilations has only three regular Vandross albums to call upon for its selections: Luther Vandross (2001), Dance with My Father (2003), and Live Radio City Music Hall 2003 (2003), and yet it is botched. "Take You Out" and "I'd Rather," Vandross' chart entries from Luther Vandross, are included (the former in its original version and in a "remixed" version). But the choices from Dance with My Father ...
