The glam slam kings of noise are back! Poison's first material in a decade with the original lineup is a boombastic affair. With five new tracks and the rest old favorites recorded in concert, POWER is an excellent signpost to where this band has been and where it's going.
The title track keeps things current with a ferociously modern rock sound, while "Can't Bring Me Down" is a snappy, midtempo number reminiscent of the band's debut album. "The Last Song" is a well-crafted power ballad by the boys who practically invented the genre, and "I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine" shows guitarist C.C. DeVille taking over lead vocals on a punky, metal number similar to the songs on his fantastic side project SAMANTHA 7. Playing live is Poison's forte, and from the opening chords of "Look What the Cat Dragged In," they show that they're rocking harder than ever, while retaining their unique chemistry. And talking of chemistry, C.C. DeVille's immense guitar solo proves that after a battle with drugs and alcohol, the new, healthy C.C. is also an improved one. "Nothin' But a Good Time" and "Talk Dirty to Me" end this thunderous affair with a bang, and show there are still FUN rock bands in the world.

Poison Power To The People Songs Power To The People Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Poison Still Has What It Takes!!!! This CD definatly has the same chemistry that brought success to their original live/studio set, Sight for Sore Ears. Bret's writting, Rikki's drumming, Bobby's rythem and C.C.'s original guitaur style come alive once again in a kick ass performance that shows us why Poison was L.A.'s best live band of the 80's. Definatly a must have for any life long or new Poison fan....

CC ROCKS! CC is the greatest thing in creation. His song "I hate every bone in your body but mine" is pure poetic writing. A must buy CD just because of CC! Submitted by a reviewer (Pocono Lakes, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Power To Poison!!!! Poison never ceases to amaze me, as i believe many others as well. I have picked up a copy of there new album "Power To The People" and it is truly impressive, even for someone like me who has been a humongous fan since day i was in the first or second grade (im 16 now). They have included 5 new original songs on this album with guitarist C.C. DeVille back in action, and have a bunch of live songs from last summers very successful reunion tour with C.C. The live tracks i think are awesome. Bret Michaels was having throat problems during the tour so you can hear the songs are played lower than usual, which makes a lot of them more interesting. and some of the ballads come more alive that way. I was satisfied because they didnt do all live hits on the album. They included "Let it Play" and "Love on the Rocks" which came out excellent. And the drum solo is amazing. The guitar solo is a HUUUUGE step down from basically anything and everything C.C. has ever done. (Then again i havent heard Samantha 7's album yet). But anyway, ONTO the new studio tracks....First, "Power To The People" one of the best songs I have ever heard from Poison. It doesnt even sound like them for the most part though. Its a huge step towards a heavier sound. And the chorus is one of the best choruses I have ever heard. The solo doesnt sound even close to anything I ever thought C.C. could do. Next, "Can't Bring Me Down". This song is definately another new favorite of mine. It's so great. Its a more grown up version of nothing but a good time in a way I guess you can say. Just an all around great song. Sounds like it could be a great radio player. Next is what at first I thought of as a "typical", but awesome Poison ballad. But after further listening, it is much different than a lot of their ballads too, again giving this whole new sound to them. It is a great and touching song. In this song it almost sounds as if C.C. is trying to take a lesson or two from Blues Saraceno's book. Next is "Strange". Very cool song. It's really cool and mellow. Almost in a way, the let it play kind of feel i think, but mellower, i guess. And finally....sung by C.C. DeVille, "I hate every bone in your body but mine." The lyrics are definately Poison sounding, but the song would be good if it wasnt C.C. singing. He sounds like Weird Al Yankovic in "gump". But all in all this album rocks, and should be Number 1 on the billboard and radio charts. Poison For Life. Submitted by HAIRPICK (Staten Island, New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Oh, what a rush!! Very few bands are capable of bottling the raw excitement that's felt at a live show, Poison mastered it with ease.
In general I do not like live albums, there's something that gets lost in the translation however this certainly is not the case with "power to the people".
Crank it loud close your eyes and you will swear you are at the greatest rock and roll show on earth. Includes a few good new tracks as a bonus. Don't miss out on this one, you'll kick yourself later! Submitted by a reviewer (TAMPA, FL.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
