| | Robert Shaw Chamber Singers Songs Of Angels - Christmas Hymns And Carols / Robert Shaw CD (1994)
Agnus Dei: Music Of Inner Harmony
$8.75 Robert Shaw's Songs of Angels: Christmas Hymn is an easy listening collection of classic carols and hymns. There are no contemporary songs -- it is supposed to capture the spirit of an olde-tyme Christmas. Since Shaw's arrangements are a little syrupy and mainstream, it doesn't quite reach its goal, but it's nevertheless a fairly entertaining listen that would work nicely as holiday background music. ~ Rodney Batdorf

Agnus Dei: Music Of Inner Harmony
$12.95 The Blessing Way instills a deep sense of power in its crystal-clear performances which blend with the sounds of nature. The recording begins on location at Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Arizona, as songbirds awaken on a rocky ridge within the canyon. Silverbird's small reed flute begins its melodious poetry, echoing off the massive red walls. The drumming slowly commences, as the sun moves higher, opening the way for distant chanting. As the listener is surrounded with the sacred Navajo ceremony of The Blessing Way, the sunlight fades and with it the drumming and chanting as well, leaving the lone flute and wind whistling again through the haunting darkness. Produced by his father, J. Reuben Silverbird, this recording is the solo debut of Perry, known as "the Gentle Flute Poet." ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats
