| | Taggart Smith You're Not Alone-Piano Melodies For The Young At H CD (2006)
From The Goddess/O Great Spirit
$18.99 Born in 1971, Taggart began playing the piano at age 7. Even at a young age, he exasperated his piano teacher by adding his own “enhancements” to his assigned pieces. Over the years, he has enjoyed developing and refining this creativity. After playing in numerous bands, Taggart has enjoyed settling down to focus on instrumental songwriting. Inspired by such artists as Jim Brickman and George Winston, his songs revolve around soothing and relaxing simple melodies. In addition to pursuing his love for music, Taggart works as a Computer Network Administrator in southeast Michigan, where he lives with his wife and two children. Recently, Taggart co-founded Zippity2Dad Productions, a children's entertainment and production company.Taggart’s debut release, “You’re Not Alone”, was inspired by the birth of his daughter. What began as a collection of soft lullabies for her grew into a wonderful collection of relaxing and enjoyable piano melodies for all ages. Taggart enjoys drawing from his life experiences, as evident in selections such as “First Steps”, and the title track, “You’re Not Alone”, both written to celebrate the birth of his daughter. He also mixes in some delightfully familiar adaptations of children’s classics, such as “Mockingbird” and “Twinkle Medley”. When you fall into the ...
| | Celine Dion D'Elles CD (2007) Bonus CD; Germany
From The Goddess/O Great Spirit
$23.49 As she's prone to do every four years or so, Celine Dion released a French-language album called D'Elles in 2007, her first since 2003's stripped-down, folky 1 Fille & 4 Types. Sonically, D'Elles couldn't be more different than 1 Fille -- from its soaring majestic ballads to its chilly disco sheen, it's extremely European, with none of the homey trappings of the 2003 record -- but it does share one significant trait: it is also a concept album. This time, Dion has hired a bevy of female lyricists from France and Quebec to give this a common thread of songs about women, thereby making this lyrically and musically more cohesive than the glitzy, scattershot 2002 extravaganza A New Day Has Come, while being considerably less sentimentally gloppy than 2004's Miracle: A Celebration of New Life. In a way, this is Dion's most ambitious project in a long time, if not ever -- really, the only rival is that musically adventurous 1 Fille, and if D'Elles is a bit too careful musically, it nevertheless is unified as an album ...
