| Heifetz a Real Prodigy. Jascha Heifetz Collection, Volume 5: The Russian Recordings, 1911 This CD begins with a beautiful performance ot the Beethoven Concerto. Jascha Heifetz Collection, Volume 5: The Russian Recordings, 1911 The tone is beautiful, and the line spun like silk and the bravura passages performed with an ease unique to Heifetz. The rest of this disc is devoted to recordings made in 1911 when Heifetz was 9 or 10. He had already impressed Kreisler at this time witht a performance of the Mendelsohn Cocerto to the pont that Kreisler was in awe. These short pieces, although in primitive sound, indicate why. The sheen of Heifetz' tone is apparent, his executive of bravura passages is almost defiant in its ease and his purity of tone and intonation in the highest notes is unique to this master. This is not the playing of a gifted child but the playing of the most technically perfect violinist I have ever heard. His musical imagination is formidable and he adds some beautiful schmaltz to these lovely selection. A must have for anyone who loves GREAT VIOLIN PLAYING. By John (Philadelphia, PA, USA) |
