Best Of The Nat King Cole Trio: The Vocal Classics, Vol. 1 (1942 - 1946) album for sale by Nat "King" Cole was released Oct 31, 1995 on the Capitol/EMI label. This best-of collects the distilled essence of the sophisticated crooner Nat "King" Cole, from his first U.S. number one hit, "I Love You For Sentimental Reasons," to signature songs like "Unforgettable" and later hits like "Ramblin' Rose." His versions of "Mona Lisa" and the pleading "Answer Me, My Love" are sheer romance, while the gently swinging "Ballerina" is pure sophistication. ...See Full Description

Hoodoos Rokdablu! CD (2007)
Best Of The Nat King Cole Trio: The Vocal Classics, Vol. 1 (1942 - 1946) songs The HooDoos second CD, "Rokdablu!" was recorded live in the studio. Which means three guys playing and two of them singing in the same room at the same time. And now a Chicago story from back in the day:" Humbert Sumlin was sitting out front of the Kingston Mines on the front fender of his Oldsmobile 98 after my set. Lots of people were talking to him, of course. I was walking up to introduce myself to him, a little nervous because it's Humbert Sumlin for gods sake! He caught sight of me, rose up, walked over and hugged me. I cried! He talked about how glad he was to hear people like me playing, and sat in for the entire next set." Fancy Trash Three Cheers for the Cheated CD (2006)
Best Of The Nat King Cole Trio: The Vocal Classics, Vol. 1 (1942 - 1946) songs New England-based music fans have, unfairly or not, an instant mental image that comes up immediately upon hearing the phrase "an all-acoustic trio from Northampton, Massachusetts": painfully earnest, weedy singer/songwriter folk equally devoid of both energy and humor, probably with lyrics about whales and/or nuclear energy. This is quite happily not at all the case with Northampton trio Fancy Trash, whose second album has much more in common with the indie-folk of M. Ward, and even Mercury Rev's rural psychedelia. Singer/songwriter Dave Houghton has an edgy, nervous quality in his vocal style that at times recalls the Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and the Rev's Jonathan Donahue. His propulsive guitar style, meshing folk-rock jangle, and punkier influences push the songs, with the stand-up bass and rattletrap drums hanging on as best they can, even on relatively low-key tracks like "Deeply Concerned." Without settling too comfortably into any one particular niché of the contemporary folk-rock scene -- they're not weird enough for Devendra Banhart fans, nor country enough for the children of Uncle Tupelo -- Three Cheers for the Cheated is a big step up from Fancy Trash's scattershot debut, showcasing the band's strengths on 11 varied, energetic songs. ~ Stewart Mason
Acoustic rock. A little fancy, a little trashy.
