| | Chet Baker Songs For Lovers CD Chet Baker Discography of CDs
All 12 tracks here span the years 1953-1957 and were recorded when Chet Baker was at the peak of his popularity. Most of the tracks were recorded by his quartet, which included pianist Russ Freeman. Baker always favored romantic jazz standard ballads of yearning and seduction. His trumpet playing is extremely natural and melodic and disarmingly yet deceptively simple. He plays in clear toned, lyrical elongated lines that ever so subtly twist the melodies.
Included here are a beautiful moody version of Billy Strayhorn's classic "Lush Life" and three wonderful live tracks recorded in 1954 at the Tiffany Club in Los Angeles. A wistful "Embraceable You" and a melancholic "There's a Lull in My Life," featuring guitarist David Wheat, are two standouts. Baker's tenor vocals stick closely to the bare bones of the melody with just the subtlest variation, delivering the lyrics in long, straight-toned phrases barely above a whisper. These classic tracks are perfect for romantic late night listening.
Recorded between July 1953 and December 1957.

Songs For Lovers
$17.69 Taking influences on such musical genres from instrumental to folk, blues with even a touch of reggae on a rythmic rock background, Michel Brazeau and Branode takes you in a journey inside the spirit and the mind where the imaginary and moods clash in a discordant, cacophonous world. BIO: Cacophonic Extravaganza is the result of years of composing music (my first comp dating back to 1990). The best of what I did was recorded by myself and/or with a few good musicians such as Stéphane Désormeaux on bass and Christian Noury on drums on certain tracks. It is my attempt to do a complete project as composer/producer, learning the ropes as I put all those ideas in a musical form on disc. With the help of computer technology and the proper gear, it is surprising to see how much can be done without the pros. While the album ...
