| Please somebody remaster this album I have the CD which is poorer quality than the original vynil. These are precious charts played by a magnificent band. Surely it can be remastered. Every time I listen to it I think how utterly amazing it could be if it was remastered. If Stan Kenton had lived into the digital age he would have wiped out all other music by now. | 5 stars for the original music and 3 stars for CD quality Capitol has blown it again. Cuban Fire was the most exciting big band afro-cuban jazz I had ever heard when I bought the vinyl album back in 1956. I wore it out and bought another. Unfortunately the sound on the CD is muddy when compared to the original record. However, it is still exciting music. The arrangment concepts of Johnny Richards sound as new today as they did when the recordings were made, fifty years ago. The CD bonus tracks sound better than the CD original tracks. | Top Notch I believe this CD has some of Stan Kenton's best music. Though I have to admit that I am biased since my father-in-law, Al Mattaliano, plays trumpet on some of the songs on the CD. I grew up at a time that Elvis and The Beatles were taking over the music scene while my father did his best to hold onto music such as Kenton's. When I met my wife and father-in-law many years later I was reintroduced to the big band and orchestra sounds of the 40's, 50's and soundtracks from the major Broadway hits from those eras through the early 90's. Stan Kenton's music contains some of the best examples of those genres. By FrMarshal (Tinton Falls, NJ, USA) |
