| Into The Grave Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) classic old-school swedish metal Brutal in-your-face death metal from Sweden. This release has the classic «Stockholm sound», complete with the blistering buzzsaw guitar tone, made famous by Tomas Skogsberg from Sunlight Studios, who also introduced bands like Carnage, Dismember, etc.
This is truly some early 90's death metal, before the «Gothenburg era's» more melodic approach Submitted by claudelecompte75 (Gatineau, QC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A must have. A incredible swedish death metal. In the vein of Carnage, Dismember and Entombed.

It could have been ..darker? jaja When I heard this album back in 96' for the first time, along with soulless, i fell in love with 1) the sound of the band 2) the music itself..
The songs throughout the record shows us that you don't need sophisticated equipment with plasma monitors like "nowadays studios" have. It includes a part with simple keyboards, creepy sounding, ..mm the guitars could have been a little bit louder that's the ONLY complain about this album, but i guess that's the concept..fuzzy sound but tight drums, haunting vocals, we have to remember that is a very obscure theme..and other thing ..the name of the band says it all, GRAVE!. take care!! buaaaa..hehe Submitted by claudiocruzat69 (Santiago, Chile) Was This Review Helpful? Into The Grave
$9.85 Released in 1992, Tomb of the Mutilated helped establish Cannibal Corpse's reputation as one of metal's goriest, most vile outfits. Boasting some of the sickest album art and song titles of all time, the band's attention-getting tactics worked perfectly and record sales soared. Cannibal Corpse then became one of the biggest names in the death metal genre -- just as the group's discs and live performances were being banned all over the world. Listeners unfamiliar with the belching vocal style and pummeling drum and guitar attack typical of death metal probably won't understand what separates this or any other record that adheres so stringently to the genre's formula, but learned fans have come to appreciate Tomb of the Mutilated as a solid, if not important, ...

| | Kreator Pleasure To Kill CD (1986) Remastered
Into The Grave
$10.39 Metal band Kreator had been around for awhile before they released Pleasure to Kill in 1986. Many in the underground metal scene were already paying special attention to the German outfit's proto-death sound, but the cult status was shed after this critically and commercially successful sophomore effort hit record-store shelves. As fierce and unyielding as the group's debut, Endless Pain, was, Pleasure to Kill provides double the ...

| | Rods Let Them Eat Metal CD (1984) (Import) Import; Germany
Into The Grave
$27.59 1984's Let Them Eat Metal is probably the most notorious album of the Rods' career, but it's certainly not their best. In fact, it's a veritable catalog of the biggest negative stereotypes of '80s metal -- beginning with the crass misogyny reflected by its objectified and scantily clad cover model, continuing with the increasingly simplified song structures, and rounded out by clichéd subject matter, which is largely confined to nuclear war ("Nuclear Skies"), female bashing ("She's Such a Bitch"), or simply rocking out with one's cock out ("I'm a Rocker"). It hadn't been that way at the beginning for the Rods. Sure, they were never confused with the more sophisticated gentlemen rockers on any given stage, but their everyman street-level credibility spoke volumes on their behalf, instead. Yet, as the years wore on and their commercial failures mounted, the Rods surely noticed that the bulk of America's most successful heavy metal bands (e.g. Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Quiet Riot) were writing music for the lowest common denominator, and thus decided to dumb down their own songs in a bid to compete. Ironically, rather than scoring even a smidgeon of recognition with blockheaded rockers like "She's So Tight," "Got the Fire Burnin'," and the title track, the Rods simply learned, once and for all, that it was really pretty faces capable of attracting the female audience on MTV that were driving pop-metal-album sales beyond platinum-status, and their ugly mugs were simply not welcome. To top it all off, the Rods still showed their songwriting limitations by ripping off established metal classics when they ran out of ideas -- hence the thinly veiled rewrite of Judas Priest's "Breaking ...
| | Krisiun Works Of Carnage CD (2003)
Into The Grave
$9.85 Slayer set the benchmark for hellish, uncompromisingly nasty 30-minute albums in 1986 with the masterpiece Reign in Blood, and for years, many of the band's followers scurried like hyenas to the picked-over death/thrash/speed metal carcass looking for a scrap of the band's creative inspiration. That being said, Krisiun's fifth album, Works of Carnage, offers 32 minutes of brutally savage death metal that is, like many albums and bands in the genre, notable for its musicianship if not for its originality or songwriting ability. Here, the Brazilian trio has pared down its arrangements to two- and three-minute blasts of disorienting, whirlwind guitar riffs, double-bass drum battery, and graaarghh! vocals, while still maintaining the overall early-'90s Floridian ...
