Released to acclaim after Euronymous' death, this is the most readily available Mayhem album in America. The music is fast and furious, and the stomach-turning vocals are unintelligible, but Mayhem avoids being simply standard by making subtle changes in their sound throughout the album and not falling into a rut or repeating themselves, as too many other death metal bands tend to do. This album may require a bit of patience, but it is worth it. ~ Steve Huey
Unknown Contributor Role: Euronymous.
Personnel: Hellhammer (drums).

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Music Mayhem De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Songs De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Music De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Dark and cold, but not for everybody Although the production is rather awful, the atmosphere in this CD is impressive. The music and and the weird yet effective vocals convey images of desolation and despair. However, I understand how many people see in this a mess of riffs and agonizing Donald Duck on vocals. Guess it is a love or hate record...I kinda love it. Submitted by matiastapia (Chicago, IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Virtually Immaculate. Unsurpassed in its pure one-dimensional deployment of chilling aural devastation. Submitted by madballdan (Stamford, CT.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
This Is Black Metal If one release was to sum up the entire second wave of Black Metal from Norway, it would be this one, great line up, great songs, and although Darkthrone are my favorite Black Metal band this is by far my favorite Album in the Genre. THE quintessential black metal release This is Norwegian black metal in it's purest form, everything from the great riffs (courtesy of Euronymous),the legendary Hellhammer on drums,The infamous Varg (who later murdered Euronymous) of the solo project Burzum, and the unique and chilling vocal contribution from Tormentor's Attila. This album is a classic and truly frightening record, and this is what black metal is all about.Although the vocals may turn some off, this album is just too good and classic to be ignored. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
$10.69 Often cited as the first true death metal record ever released (Florida's Death had been around just as long but would only make their vinyl debut a few years later), Possessed's Seven Churches took thrash metal's intensity to new levels of brutality. With song titles like "Burning in Hell," "Satan's Curse," and "The Exorcist" (featuring the famous movie's eerie title theme ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's ...

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
$9.89 2003 reissue of the Scandinavian dark metal act's 1992 album features six tracks plus an exclusive multimedia enhanced interview with the band (Chapter 2), packaged in a digipak. Peaceville.
Heavy metal has always championed the darker things in life, but whatever they might say in their interviews, most bands are really just mugging for the press, fronting a fantasy image for the benefit ...

| | Darkthrone Transilvanian Hunger CD (1994) Digipak
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
$10.09 "Darkthrone is for all the evil in man," proclaims the back cover of Transilvanian Hunger, the Norwegian group's fourth release -- but more controversial is the proclamation that contained within was "Norsk Arisk Black Metal," loosely translated, "Norwegian Aryan Black Metal." One would have to be fluent in Norwegian to understand whether or not Transilvanian Hunger boasts a racist agenda, since all lyrics, save for the vampire-themed title track, are "sung" in said dialect, but such a proclamation reeks of a publicity stunt from this batch of antisocial black metallers (further evidenced by the lyrical contributions of Norwegian scenester/convicted murderer/Burzum leader Varg Vikernes). Look past this malarkey, and you'll find, well, an impenetrable wall of noise, a 39-minute blur of mosquito-buzzing guitar riffs, blastbeats, and inhuman howls. The album boasts a subbasement-level ...
| | Angelo & Veronica Not Enough CD (1996)
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
$7.69 Not Enough isn't a bad album. It's not a particularly good album either. Angelo & Veronica clearly aren't in it for the music, though. Every track focuses on one thing -- the message. They don't leave any doubt in the listener's mind that they intend to minister through their music, not simply entertain. That said, this is an album, and the music matters. It's not spectacular. The first six tracks are basically all the same; only the words change. Things improve dramatically, starting with "Prayer Is the Answer" through the rest of the album. All in all, if you're looking for a message, ...

| | Black Sabbath Past Lives CDs (2002) Limited Edition; Digipak
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
$18.49 Hot on the heels of Ozzy Osbourne's rebirth as a pop culture icon comes PAST LIVES, Black Sabbath's first official Ozzy-era live recording. Initially released as an unauthorized 1980 recording called LIVE AT LAST, disc one takes the same material and considerably cleans up its fidelity. The album was recorded at a pair of 1973 UK shows in Manchester and London. Among the thunderous standards trotted out are "Sweet Leaf," "War Pigs," "Snowblind," and of course "Paranoid." Still decades away from the neurological damage caused by long-time drug and alcohol abuse, Ozzy is in fine fettle, incessantly declaring his love for the crowd when he's not exhorting them to clap.
Tony Iommi's tasty riffing is equally impressive while his range offers up some surprises, ...
