No Sleep Till Bedtime
$13.39 Once again led by madman Devin Townsend, the extremists in Strapping Young Lad are back after an almost six year hiatus with what will be on of the heaviest releases to see the light of day in 2003. Fueled by the events of 9/11, the band has never sounded more savage. Also featuring the talents of Gene Hoglan on drums (Dark Angel, Death) and Jed Simon & Byron Stroud (formerly of Front Line Assembly). Century Media.

$11.89 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Strapping Young Lad: Devin Townsend (vocals, guitar); Jed Simon (guitar); Byron Stroud (bass instrument); Gene Hoglan (drums). Never mind System of a Down's irresistibly quirky Serj Tankian. If any heavy metal musician were picked to represent the musically adept but incurably goofy spirit of Frank Zappa, it would probably be gifted lunatic Devin Townsend, ...

| | Alice Faye Complete Arc & Brunswick Sides CD (2003)
No Sleep Till Bedtime
$13.89 She was one of the brightest and most beautiful stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals, so it's little wonder that most Alice Faye collections to date have concentrated almost exclusively on her soundtrack recordings. But Alice was a recording star, too, and this collection features recordings for the ARC, Brunswick and associated labels dating from 1934 to 1937, which happens to be about the time Alice was at the peak of her popularity, before her clashes with Fox studio chief Darryl Zanuck caused her to leave the public eye altogether.
Personnel includes: Alice Faye (vocals); Frddie Martin & His Orchestra; Cy Feuer & His Orchestra. Recorded between 1934 & 1937. In a similar fashion to Judy Garland, Alice Faye was clearly an actress even while making records, ...

Crionics: Waran (vocals, guitar); Vac-V (synthesizer); Marcotic (bass guitar); Darkside (drums). Recording information: Hertz Studio (08/12/2002-08/23/2002). The fall of communism in Eastern Europe had a tremendous impact on the music scenes of countries like Russia, Hungary, the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia), and Bulgaria. Leninist and Stalinist hard-liners tended to take a dim view of anything other than Euro-classical and very traditional East European folk, and when those hard-liners were no longer in power, musicians suddenly had a lot more room for artistic expression. That is certainly true in post-communist Poland, where everything from hardcore rap to avant-garde jazz to bubblegum-dance-pop has flourished. Back in the days of communism, a death metal/black metal band like Crionics would have been a no-no-; if communist hard-liners thought Miles Davis' Kind of Blue was subversive, one can only imagine what they would have thought of an album with titles ...
