| | Marianne Faithfull Secret Life CD Marianne Faithfull Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
All music written by Angelo Badalamenti. All lyrics written or co-written by Marianne Faithfull except "Prologue" (Dante Alighieri), "Losing" (D. Forman/D. Levine), and "Epilogue" (William Shakespeare).
For her first studio album comprised of mostly original material in over a decade, Faithfull enlisted noted composer Angelo Badalamenti (who collaborated with David Lynch for the Twin Peaks TV soundtrack) to write music for her lyrics and produce. Faithfull is still in rippingly fine voice, and her words still penetrate. But while Badalamenti's densely orchestral arrangements can be effectively noirish, they can also create an inappropriately cold and detached ambience, despite standout tracks like "Flaming September" and "She." ~ Richie Unterberger

Entertainment Weekly (3/24/95, p.64) - "...Whiskey-ravaged and bitter, Faithfull sounds like a distressed angel. But if she envisions herself as Marlene Dietrich, her collaborator, Angelo Badalamenti, sees Peggy Lee....LIFE makes you wonder what Faithfull could produce if she was orchestrated by Ennio Morricone..." - Rating: B Marianne Faithfull Secret Life Songs Purchase Secret Life CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Allman Brothers Band Dreams CDs (1989) Box Set

Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse ...

American Flyer has long been a favorite of singer/songwriter, L.A. country-rock, and '70s soft rock aficionados, partially because of the group's supergroup status, but chiefly because the music they made was very, very good. That pedigree was indeed impressive, ...
