At first glance, a soundtrack album that includes Shania Twain, Al Green, Elvis Costello, and the Spencer Davis Group (guess what song), seems like a puzzler in terms of linearity. On closer inspection it becomes apparent that the connecting thread between this disparate collection of artists is the romance that's at the core of the film. The ups and downs of Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts's relationship is effectively reflected in these songs. The smooth pop/R&B of Boyzone and 98 Degrees represents the first glorious rush of love. A touch of longing is introduced with Elvis's take on Charles Aznavour's "She" and Bill Withers's '70s classic "Ain't No Sunshine." The Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'" (did these guys ever record anything else?) perfectly captures the undeniable force of physical desire. Things are wrapped up nicely with a pair of orchestral pieces composed by Trevor Jones.
I enjoyed the Notting Hill Soundtrack Being a female, I know Notting Hill would be called a "chick flick". But I enjoyed it and I love the soundtrack as well. Submitted by carol.tyler (Plymouth, Michigan, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 2 of 3 found this helpful.
Great album An ex boyfriend decicated this film and the song from Ronan Keating When you say nothing at all to me many months ago. He finished the relationship but the film will always remain in my heart as its lovely and simple and shows that where theres a will there is a way.

Giving Credit Where It Is Due I just want to say that the song "No Matter What" was really composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I don't see him credited on this web-site, and I just want to set the record straight. It is from the new musical "Whistle Down the Wind", currently playing at the Aldwych Theater in London.
