War songs Product Information
War album for sale by U2 was released Jun 01, 1990 on the Island label. WAR, U2's first gold album, established them as one of the great cutting-edge bands of early '80s rock and the definitive post-punk commercial breakout. War CD music From the insularity and ruminative splendor of their studio work, U2 blossomed into a visceral live band capable of turning elegant webs of sound into in-your-face rock and roll. Amazingly, this album came out during the time that bandmates in the group U2 classify as a time that they didn't know how to write or play music. While "Boy" and "October" certainly came first, "War" undoubtably blew the doors open for U2 to say to the world, "Here we are; listen up!" I remember buying this one on vinyl and nearly wearing a hole in it while the cartridge on my turntable played it over and over and over. Songs like "New Year's Day" and "Two Hearts Beat As One" just seemed to get the blood pumping and sounded better when played at a level above 100 db (I also remember they were good songs to skateboard or do freestyle BMX to.) "Drowning Man" and "40" gave the album a bit of mellow reflection, but really the album was and may still be U2's best collection of songs with "October" and "Boy" following closely (not to mention neck and neck) at second and third. I remember that every kid with a guitar at the boarding school that I attended wanted to be Dave "The Edge" Evans and those that mastered the songs on the album were rarely without female companionship. Do yourself a favour; buy this album so that you can be reminded every time you hear it what good music is.

||what can you say ... it's a classic|
Ah... takes me back to the early 80s when U2 was never played on "classic" rock radio. Has tremendous youthful energy and hints of greater things to come from this band.
