This is a powerful recording of Middle Eastern music. Kudsi plays nay with Mahmoud Tabrizi Zadeh adding the scintillating sounds of the santur (a type of hammer dulcimer) and the sensual melodies of the kemantche (a bowed string instrument). Bruno Caillat also plays zarb and tabla. ~ Linda Kohanov
Recorded in Germany in July, 1990.
Personnel: Kudsi Erguner (ney, frame drum); Suleyman Erguner (ney).

Sufi Music Of Turkey CD music
$11.49 Much the Same has a knack for taking music that, by 2006, should sound tired and tedious, and instead, churns it out with a vitality that energizes ears and incites both impassioned singalongs and spirited steering wheel drumming sessions. Just as on prior efforts, the Chicago quartet is set to continue in the footsteps of mid-'90s skatepunk bands; they still sound strikingly similar to acts like Millencolin -- lead vocalist Gunner McGrath doing nothing to rectify the situation -- and you'd even swear at one point halfway through "Stiches" that Greg Graffin makes a guest appearance. Though by no stretch of the imagination is this a bad thing at all, since whatever the band might lack in innovation, Much the Same makes up for tenfold in the energy and passion they bring to the table. From the ...

Sufi Music Of Turkey songs
$17.69 TRADITION (the habari gani sessions) documents the legacy of Saxophonist Frederick âShepâ Sheppard (1945-2007). A great CD that includes several New Orleans musicians recorded following the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. The CD has just been nominated in Best of the Beat annual awards by Offbeat magazine for best contemporary jazz CD of 2008. Any sales of TRADITION will benefit the FREDERCIK âSHEPâ SHEPPARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND that contributes to young New Orleans musicians. Please enjoy the music and contribute to the continuation of New Orleans music.Boulder, Colorado, November 17, 2006: New Orleans and her native musicians have had a tough go of things in the past yearâHurricanes Katrina and Rita, displacement from homes and loss of instruments. Frederick âShepâ Shepherd is truly The Old-School Heart of New Orleans Music! Shep has lost everything but his Sax and his music; dislocated from New Orleans and living in Phoenix, Arizonaâhe needed our help! Shep recorded his first namesake studio recording in Boulder Colorado just three weeks before his death. The session was also made by NEw Orleans musicians Chris Lacinak, James Singleton, Brian Seeger and John Magnee.Sheppard was born in New Orleansâ Charity Hospital in 1945 and started playing music while still a junior high student in the late 1950s. He bought his first saxophone coin by coin, with his mother who then worked as a maid, chipping in a dollar for every quarter he earned. The result was a $200 horn from Werlein's Music Store on Canal Street. "It was old and raggedy," he says, "but I didn't know it. It looked so good to me.âWithin ...
