DVD. Feature film. Third & final film in Samurai Trilogy. S tars Toshiro Mifune. 102 min. Orig. theatrical trailer. Sub titled. Considered the best of Inagaki's epic trilogy, Part Three tones the action down several notches to concentrate on legendary seventeenth century samurai Musashi Miyamoto's inner struggles. Now the winner of sixty duels and revered throughout Japan, he wonders what it is that makes a warrior worthy of admiration--- his number of victories, or something more intangible? His only remaining enemy, Kojiro, meanwhile, has learned the way of the Shogun, and awaits his chance to utilize these methods on Musashi. The chance finally arises on the small island of Ganryu. All loose ends are fittingly tied up in the triumphant third act of this legendary series. Part Three finds Musashi reflecting on his place in the world after winning sixty duels and becoming the stuff of legend across Japan. His young enemy, Kojiro, continues to pursue him, however. While Musashi regrets the death he has caused during his travels and intends to become a farmer, Kojiro thirsts for more and learns the way of the Shogun. The two enemies finally get the chance to meet and settle their score on the small island of Ganryu. The print used for the Home Vision Cinema VHS version is from the Janus collection. Samurai 3 - Duel At Ganryu Island Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Wonderful Conclusion This is the brillent conclusion to the Samurai Trilogy. The first movie was amazing and the trilogy only improved from there. A wonderful story of love and dreams, passion and strength. The best Japanese movie I have seen since Seven Samurai. Samurai Trilogy, Part III This trilogy is great. Classic Mifune in his younger days. Subtitled in English, the final episode is arguably the best of the trilogy. The tragic hero, Musashi {Mifune} has at last mastered the art of the Samurai, and must face his lone competitor in a duel to the death. It is an adventure-filled story about love, honour, and dishonour. It's wonderful that it's available now on DVD. We've watched it a number of times, and got all three. Awesome Miyamoto Musashi. Never lost a duel. He always told his oppenents in a duel to meet him at noon away from town somewhere. The challenger would wait for hours and hours. Finally, Musashi would arrive always from the West (the setting sun) so his enemy would be blinded by the wanning light of the sun. Musashi's tactics were revolutionary and made him one of the greatest Samurai ever. Submitted by a reviewer (Tokyo, Japan) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$19.99 YOUNG THUGS - INNOCENT BLOOD: This somewhat autobiographical film, set in director Takashi Miike's hometown of Osaka, is a coming-of-age story that contains the blood and violence characteristic of the work of this auteur. True to its title, however, the film retains an innocence that sets it apart from much of Miike's oeuvre. Three friends rob their teacher on the last day of school and ...

$71.69 Going boldly where no man had gone before, Gene Roddenberry's cult phenomenon STAR TREK debuted in 1966 and reflected that decade's optimistic preoccupation with space travel. Set in the 23rd century, the series chronicled the intergalactic adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise on its five-year mission to explore the outer reaches of space. Encountering a now-iconic assembly of innovative alien life forms such as the Klingons, Romulans, Tribbles, and Khan Noonian Singh, the ship's jumpsuited crew was a then unheard-of font of multiculturism: Asian Sulu (George Takei), African-American Uhura (Nichelle ...
