 Woodstock Across The Sea
Murray Lerner's documentary of the 1970 Isle of Wight rock festival is on a par with its more celebrated Woodstock cousin. The performers and performances are legendary and one hopes the individual sets put out on DVD by The Who and Jimi Hendrix will eventually have company with the likes of Joni Mitchell and others on the bill. While Lerner's take on the free music vs. big business aspects of the festival is interesting, it leaves the viewer restless for the next performance. Perhaps an expanded version of the film will eventually come to pass with additional music.

 The not so good old years
This was an average DVD. Some good clips of performances, not enough, and there was too much about all anger from these people who thought they were "Love Children". On one side the audience were willing to blow their cool to avoid paying 3 pounds admission fee and on the other side the promoters, unlike at woodstock, would not let people in for free until the whole mood of the concert was destroyed. In fact, at one point they blamed the preformers for having to collect the admission fee. It is a shame the last performances of the Doors & Jimi did not happen in a better atmosphere.

 Classic 70's live music
The Isle of Wight is one of the best live shows ever.

 The end of an Era?
Looking back at this Festival I can remember the time and the people. Flower Power was all but over and ( thank God ) Disco hadn't arrived. This movie captures the feelings in 1970's England and highlights some of the great performers that were around at the time. Try and find another live performance by Taste, Free were soon to evolve into Bad Company and the music would change. Is this a perfect DVD? No its not..... It is however one of the best I have been able to find showing the British Music scene of the era. Drop me a line if you know of anything better.

 It's a historic concert and the last from a tipical era.
All the musisians put the music like a delirious, like a colectif overdose, like a final era (60's). It's a historic concert and the last for Jimy Hendrix and others. Baez surviver because her voice and music are universal and not result of a specif time oh history, like Moody Blues, Hendrix, and others.
