Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) 5 stars

5 stars The Best Copland CD anywhere.
Aaron Copland is one of the most famous American composers of our time. His works include Appalachian Spring, ballets suites from Rodeo and Billy the Kid, and the wonderful Fanfare for the Common Man. You may have heard his music in many forms, most recently in the 'Beef, where it's at' commercial. You will not find a better selection or performance of these works anywhere, and is a must have classical CD. Bernstein and the NY Phil recorded these performances years ago in analog, but you would not know if when listening to these great recordings. It is THE Copland CD that you must have in your collection.

2003 live release for the late blues rock guitarist features 8 tracks. Digipak. Repertoire. LIVE IN JAPAN was recorded during the British blues guitarist's 1977 Japanese tour, and includes both Roy Buchanan originals and covers ranging from Larry Williams' "Slow Down" to Don Gibson's "Sweet Dreams."
Liner Note Author: Chris Welch .
Recording information: 1977.
Live in Japan (2003) is said to have been Roy Buchanan's favorite of all his platters, and ironically, it was never issued stateside. However, as word spread, the title became an essential addition to his discography. Fact is that it may have never come out at all, had there not been a loophole in Buchanan's contract with former label Polydor, giving them control over his non-North American output. Joining the guitarist for his 1977 tour of Japan are John Harrison (bass), Malcolm Lukens (keyboards), and Byrd Foster (drums/vocals). They are likewise the core contributors to Buchanan's most recent studio effort, A Street Called Straight (1976), though no tracks from the album are represented here. Instead, the set consists of recent collaborations, definitive cover versions, and a few seminal Buchananclassics. The immaculate fidelity immediately separates Live in Japan from most other releases in his canon. The ...

David Barela is a singer, pianist, and composer, born in a small mining town in New Mexico. Fascinated by the qualities of the human voice, David developed a four-octave range which he applies to his exciting arrangements of well-known standards and to works of his own composition. David was influenced in his early youth by legendary soprano Lily Pons. He accepted a scholarship at the University of Arizona where he developed his vocal talents under the great baritone Igor Gorin, and he refined his piano technique which he developed from the age of four with renowned concert pianist Ozan Marsh. As a balance to the rigors of formal education, David performed in bars as a cocktail pianist and singer, where he developed the more spontaneous and playful aspects of his music. More recently David's musical life has focused more on his long-time love of ecclesiastical music. He is currently serving as musical director and organist at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Seattle, Washington, where he is working on another CD of romantic classical piano music. One night last year David was listening to a recording of luminary South American singer Yma Sumac, who was known for singing with a four ...

Otto Von Schirach: Mr. Pineapple, Yarlen, Vieja Gladys (vocals); Nick Reyes (guitar); Seth Vanhorn, Kosmik Neil Trigger.
Combine an artist with a fascination for all things pervy and scatological, an unbridled musical imagination, and a tricked-out laptop computer, and you get the electronica-meets-porn-metal of Otto Von Schirach. MAXIPAD DETENTION is a compendium of grinding industrial beats, sounds that appear to issue from the bowels of particularly unsanitary robots, and a kind of futuristic synthetic rap that will shock those of a delicate disposition while being catnip to fans of electronic excess.
Creepy, funny Otto Von Schirach's first release for Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings is exactly what one would expect from the frequent Skinny Puppy collaborator: a messy, syncopated freak show of weird drill'n'bass. The album is a handpicked collection of tracks Patton chose from a pile of demos Von Schirach supplied, and though it seems from the start that Patton favored wacky samples, voices, and rhythms, he also offers up a healthy dose of Von Schirach's instrumental side. "Teabagging the Dead" is classic Von Schirach comedy-horror. It is equal parts Ministry machine-gun dynamics, funky dance beats, and comedic samples. Its most common refrain is a funny or disturbing vocal that urges profanely that women in clubs shake certain orifices. "Alligator Waltz" is a more dignified but still violent blend of warlike beats, squelched guitar ...
