This 95 minute DVD feature film traces the evolution, from folk roots in the Kentucky hills through innovations which shaped modern forms. I saw this first on a vhs, then a library cd, but someone took the library cd, so I bought my own dvd. It illustrates the origins of bluegrass music, with Bill Monroe, the focal point. Excellent music history, with some good performances, like Ralph Stanley and the Obsborne Brothers. Educational too. Enjoy!

 Good history
This goes back to Bill Monroe's birth and beyond. Good familiar music with well known artists. video is well done. This is a history of bluegrass. The video glosses over the more recent years but does a good job on the 30s through 50s
