(1 Customer Review)
"Some Might Say," inspired as it is by the Small Faces, might be described as a cross between the sensational "Whatever" and "Cigarettes and Alcohol." Like the Bunnymen's "Bring on the Dancing Horses," it's all but an "Oasis best-of" in a song, as incredibly hooky and great as anything they've done to date, with the Gallaghers doing a nice bluesy harmony before a theatrical lyric-trill on the chorus words "in the rain" catch the listener. May it sell a million copies. "Talk Tonight," another acoustic track for Noel to sing, was inspired by the Fall of '94 near-breakup of the band in Los Angeles, when he walked out, and it's probably the most vulnerable track they've attempted as a result (a far cry from Liam's ever-present bluster). Lastly, "Acquiesce" and the faster, harder "Headshrinker" are more appealing guitar rockers via the Small Faces' blues-chord heavy rock angle. As a final note, let me say that if you compile the 10 non-LP tracks from Cigarettes and Alcohol, Whatever and Some Might Say, plus "Slide Away" and "Live Forever," you've got an LP that's twice as good as the otherwise sharp Definitely Maybe; yes folks, they're getting better. Way better. That they are overcoming the anti-English bias in the States of late is cause for celebration as well. ~ Jack Rabid
1995 Japanese release on Epic, a tour souvenir featuring theU.K. hit 'Some Might Say' and five non-album tracks: 'TalkTonight', 'Acquiesce', 'Headshrinker', 'Some Might Say'(Demo Version) and a cover of The Beatles' 'You've Got ToHide Your Love Away'. Some Might Say album
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman ...

Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse Blues," this compilation delves much deeper into the catalogue with fan favorites such as "Not To Touch the Earth" and "Wishful Sinful," as well as a handful of previously obscure rarities. Remastered and newly remixed by original engineer Bruce Botnick and the surviving members ...
| | Paul McCartney Band On The Run CD (1973) Import
Some Might Say album
$10.49 BAND ON THE RUN is generally considered Paul McCartney's strongest solo effort. The album was also his most commercially successful--selling well and spawning two hit singles, the multi-part pop suite of the title track, and the roaring rocker "Jet." On these cuts, and elsewhere, McCartney's penchant for sophisticated, nuanced arrangements and irrepressibly catchy melodic hooks is up to the caliber he displayed in the Beatles, far surpassing the first two Wings releases WILDLIFE and RED ROSE SPEEDWAY.
The focus found in BAND ON THE RUN may ...

$14.45 All but impossible to not be confused with the identically titled three-volume series released by Lost Gold between 1999 and 2001, Yeaah's Teen Town U.S.A., Vol. 1 basically shuffles the same songs offered on the first volume of Lost Gold's series and improves the artwork and overall package. As advertised on the cover, songs by Jerry Landis (later known as Paul Simon), the Nighthawks (featuring Buddy Holly on guitar), and Kenny & the Cadets (Beach Boys connections) are featured. Other contributions come from Johnny Rivers ("Your First and Last Love"), Cliff Rivers ("True Lips"), Terry Wayne ("School ...
| | Classix Nouveaux La Verite CD (1982) (Import) United Kingdom
Some Might Say songs
$16.09 Classix Nouveaux's second album was spearheaded by their biggest British hit single, "Is It a Dream," as well as the smaller hits "Because You're Young" and "Never Again" (though, oddly, the album only just made it inside the U.K. Top 50). "Is It a Dream" was catchy, lightweight, soul-tinged, and pretentiously vocalized, very much in the stream of the new romantic pop that was peaking around the time of this release. With its synth-heavy production, the album's sound is as firmly dated as a Doris Day record, but actually it's not among the most offensive items in this genre. Sal Solo's high vocals sound not far from Brian Wilson's in texture ...
