Theoriginal was released on EMI/ Parlophone.
Wings: Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, violin, recorder, keyboards, bass, drums, percussion, flageolet); Denny Laine (vocals, guitar, recorder, bass, flageolet, percussion); Joe English (vocals, harmonica, drums, percussion); Linda McCartney (vocals, keyboards, percussion); Jimmy McCulloch (guitar, percussion). Recorded at Record Plant Mobile Studios, Virgin Islands; Abbey Road Studios and Air London Studios, London, England. This digitally remastered U.K. edition includes two bonus tracks. Reduced to the core trio of McCartney, McCartney, and Laine after the successful Speed of Sound tour, London Town finds Wings dropping the band façade slightly, turning in their most song-oriented effort since Band on the Run -- which, not coincidentally, was recorded with this very trio. And although its high points don't shine as brightly as those on its two immediate predecessors, it's certainly stronger than Speed and, in its own way, as satisfying as Venus and Mars. What London Town has in its favor is Wings' (or, more likely, McCartney's) decision to settle into slick soft rock, relying on glossy, synth-heavy productions as he ratchets up the melodic quotient. This gives the album a distinctly European flavor, a feeling that intensifies when the lyrics are taken into the equation, and this gives London Town a different flavor than almost any other record in his catalog. And if its best moments aren't as strong as McCartney at his best they, along with the album tracks, find him skillfully crafting engagingly light, tuneful songs that charm with their offhanded craft, domesticity, and unapologetic sweetness. McCartney's humor is in evidence here, too, with the terrific "Famous Groupies," which means there's a little of everything he does here, outside of flat-out rocking. It's a laid-back, almost effortless collection of professional pop and, as such, it's one of his strongest albums. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine By 1978, Wings had just about reached the end of their tether, and that year's BACK TO THE EGG would be their swan song. McCartney and company's penultimate recording, LONDON TOWN, proved that there was still some life left in the band. The title track is the album's most Beatlesque (and hence one of its best) cuts, slightly reminiscent of "Penny Lane" in both arrangement and subject matter. LONDON TOWN's biggest hit, "With A Little Luck" is typically optimistic and catchy as the devil. Denny Laine takes a vocal turn on the light, somewhat Donovanish "Children Children." The real gem of this album, though, is the obscure "I'm Carrying," a gentle, acoustic-based love ballad that is McCartney at his most poignant, and easily ranks among his finest post-Beatles compositions.

Paul McCartney / Wings London Town Songs London Town Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) light, breezy sound paul does his thing here on an easy, light note Submitted by tsmith163 (nj usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Another step for the hit-making machine of Wings, but more.. "London Town" was an artistic triumph of pop rock for Paul McCartney and the group Wings. With several really strong songs and great studio craft, these guys showed us just what they could do when you gave them time. Sure, there were some faulty spots (think "Famous Groupies" and "Backwards Traveler"), but they are overshadowed by the greater moments, like "Cafe On The Left Bank", the wonderful "I'm Carrying", written during Paul's wife Linda's pregnancy, and the shimmering "Children Children", not forgetting the flat-out rock of "I've Had Enough" that spits grit and sand where the rest of these songs blow kisses and sugar plums. A great contrast, and a great album period. Definitely for the average McCartney fan who wants more than just the hits. Submitted by Galen (Anchorage, AK, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
WHAT CAN I SAY The bonus track, Mull of Kintyre which was released in 1977, is the biggest selling single in British history. The whole album is just feel- good and the melodies are brilliant as usual. Wings went over the edge here creating London Town and it is one of the best albums ive ever heard. Submitted by keithsilvers (Wausau, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Rock with Great original music! Mccartney always gives the most beautiful melodies of any rock musician.
"I'm Carrying", is an example of his moving lyrics and melody. You've got to own this one! Submitted by oscareds14 (Miami, Fl.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
In some ways reminds me of "McCartney." Those 2 bonus songs push this one over the edge for the 5 stars. This is a charming disk made at the height of Paul's popularity. Submitted by Gerald (Bakersfield Ca) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$11.79 Out of print in the U.S.! Digitally remastered reissue of Macca & Wings' Top Ten album from 1973 featuring four bonus tracks: 'C Moon', 'Hi Hi Hi', 'The Mess' and 'I Lie Around'. Recorded just three years after the Beatles' split, this was his second album using the Wings name (and fourth solo release overall). Red Rose Speedway finds McCartney upping the Rock ante a bit. His three previous solo releases had been low-key, earthy and predominantly acoustic affairs, but Macca and mates started rocking out a little on tracks like 'Big Barn Bed', 'Get On The Right Thing' and especially the non-album bonus track 'Hi Hi Hi'. Featuring the beautiful #1 smash 'My Love', this remains ...

$10.15 On the south side of Chicago, MC’s are not born; they are forged-forged in a fire of back alleys, house parties, and street violence. This is not a playground for the weak or the timid. If you want to make a name you’ve got to earn it with passion, sincerity and balls. These are the hallmarks of Avenue Entertainment recording artist Kuz aka Lost Kin Folk. The son of a Chicago O.G., Kuz describes himself as an “everyday son of poverty.” Raised single handedly by his mother, Kuz saw first hand that where there is a will, there is a way. She installed firmly in his mind that he was destined to be a leader, not a follower. A natural performer, he always strived to be the center of attention. Whether it was rapping, beat boxing or break dancing, the love of entertaining was ...
