This remastered edition of UFO's 1975 album FORCE IT contains "Let It Roll," "Mother Mary," Shoot Shoot," and more. If UFO has one addition to rock's pantheon of classic albums, this is it. FORCE IT builds on its predecessor, PHENOMENON, by taking the band further away from their fuzzier, space-rocking early records. Guitarist Michael Schenker's playing has a new toughness and clarity that perfectly frames the more melodic, hook-oriented songwriting he developed in tandem with singer Phil Mogg. With crisp rhythms and riffs that gallop squarely on the beat, FORCE IT provides the perfect snapshot for when post-Zeppelin/glam hard rock morphed into the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. A 2008 reissue includes one previously unreleased studio track--"Million Miles"--and five live versions of album cuts. Michael Schenker and Phil Mogg really started to find their groove as a songwriting team with their second album together (and fourth UFO release overall), Force It. In fact, the last remaining folk and space rock tendencies that had stolen much of Phenomenon's thunder are summarily abandoned here, as the group launches itself wholeheartedly toward the hard rock direction that would make them stars. The first step is taken by Schenker, of course, who confidently establishes the aggressive, biting guitar tone that would define all the releases of the band's glory years. "Let It Roll" and "Shoot Shoot" kick off the album in rousing fashion, and while holding them under a microscope might reveal them as rather disposable slabs of hard rock, they would remain concert favorites for the band nonetheless. The punchy single "Love Lost Love" sounds tailor-made for the American market and acoustic ballad "High Flyer" is quite good, despite taking a dip in energy. But things only really start to gell on the album's second half. Schenker and Mogg wheel out their most mature composition yet with the piano-led "Out in the Street," whose softer sections truly highlight Mogg's highly disciplined, understated vocal style and make the guitar player's more restrained soloing all the more memorable. Schenker is soon back in charge, however, on the stuttering riffs and blistering fretboard work of "Mother Mary" and the downright vicious stop-start strut of "This Kids" -- both UFO anthems. One of the band's best albums, Force It will not disappoint lovers of '70s English hard rock. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

UFO's Sophmore Release W/Schenker Is A Stunner! "Force It" released in 1975 was even better than the previous year's album "Phenomenon". The group's songwriting has drastically improved and the young German guitarist Michael Schenker's playing equals that of the big guns like Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, etc. Just one listen to "Shoot Shoot", "Let It Roll", "Mother Mary", "This Kids" will comfirm this. For the reviewer who thinks "Natural Thing" (which was on 1976's "No Heavy Petting" LP) would be the only way to improve this album, I would hardly call the song "possibly their best". Hell, Schenker does one small easy guitar solo and that's it. Now compare that lick to the one in "Shoot Shoot" - no frickin' comparison. By the way, this is the 1999 remastered version of "Force It" originally released on EMI and has only been reissued by Caroline - same sound quality! Force It
$11.69 UFO: Paul Raymond (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Phil Mogg (vocals); Michael Schenker (guitar); Pete Way (bass); Andy Parker (drums). Producer: Ron Nevison. Reissue producer: David K. Tedds. Recorded live at The Amphitheatre, Chicago, Illinois; The Gardens, Louisville, Kentucky and in Youngstown, Ohio. Includes liner notes by Jon Sutherland. Digitally remastered by Bob Norberg (Capitol Mastering). Unfortunately, this concert album is often overlooked when discussions of the great live rock albums of the '70s arise. UFO's Strangers in the Night deserves to be right up there with Kiss' Alive! and Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous, based on the excitement the group and its audience generate and due to the quality of the hard rock compositions. This is a band at its peak, with its prime lineup (led by German guitar-monger Michael Schenker) and all of its best songs. The group paces itself at the beginning, opting for some lesser material, but begins to hit a stride on the early track "Doctor Doctor." "Mother Mary" and "This Kids" combine all the elements of Led Zeppelin's best rock (concise riffs, mammoth ...

Force It
$6.85 Rainbow: Ronnie James Dio (vocals); Ritchie Blackmore (guitar); Jimmy Bain (bass); Tony Carey (keyboards); Cozy Powell (drums). All tracks have been digitally remastered. Rainbow: Ronnie James Dio (vocals); Ritchie Blackmore (guitar); Jimmy Bain (bass); Tony Carey (keyboards); Cozy Powell (drums). Personnel: Ronnie James Dio (vocals); Ritchie Blackmore (guitar); Munich Philharmonic Orchestra (strings, horns); Tony Carey (keyboards); Cozy Powell (drums). Recording information: Musicland Studios (02/1976). Arrangers: Ritchie Blackmore; Ronnie James Dio. On their second release, Rainbow not only avoid the sophomore jinx; they hit a home run. After replacing the entire band (except Ronnie James Dio) immediately following the recording of the first album, Ritchie Blackmore and the Rising lineup (Blackmore; Dio; Tony Carey, keys; Jimmy Bain, bass; and the late, great Cozy Powell, drums) had plenty of time on the road touring the first album to get the chops and material together ...
| | U F O No Heavy Petting CD (1976) (Import) Japan; Remastered
Force It
$27.85 NO HEAVY PETTING was the 1976 release by U.K. hard rockers UFO, featuring "Natural Thing." Japanese remaster. This reissue is what re-masters are all about. While the original master of UFO's HEAVY PETTING buried the quintet's sonic attack in a muddy mix, this one rediscovers their power and mints the band as a crucial link between early-`70s blues-based hard rock and late-`70s British heavy metal. Every track sounds exhilarating here--including the way-over-the-top electric harpsichord on "Belladonna"--and will rekindle any rock fan's love for these under-appreciated shredders. This reissue includes five previously unreleased tracks, all worth the price of admission for longtime fans. Following the breakout success of Phenomenon and Force It, UFO had finally ascended to the first division of British hard rock. And after hiring a second guitarist and keyboard player in Danny Peyronnel, Schenker and Mogg led the group back into the studio to record their fifth album, No Heavy Petting. A noticeably cautious effort, Petting stuck so close to the rules laid down by Force ...

Force It
$9.09 Remastered Reissue. This Classic Album Comes With A Critique From A Key Rock Journalist & Includes Sleevenotes.
UFO: Phil Mogg (vocals); Michael Schenker (guitar); Pete Way (bass); Andy Parker (drums). Recorded at Morgan Studios, London, England. Guitarist Michael Schenker's impact upon UFO's career cannot be overestimated. Before the German teenager's arrival (he was only 19 when he jumped ship from the Scorpions), the British rockers' early albums of half-baked space rock had been completely ignored everywhere but Japan. But with Schenker on board, the group's sound would receive a well-needed attitude injection, veering toward the Anglo-hard rock style that would make them famous. That is not to say that their first collaboration, Phenomenon, was an instant home run. Quite the contrary, as the band seemed a tad wary of giving Schenker's more aggressive style complete freedom to roam, reining in the budding guitar hero just enough to stunt the impact of promising rockers like "Oh My and "Too Young to Know." Likewise, "Time ...

Force It
$8.55 Digitally remastered reissue of the British metal group's 1978 album for Chrysalis. Features the original cover art & all 11 of the cuts that first appeared on it. 1999 release.
UFO: Phil Mogg (vocals); Michael Schenker (guitar); Paul Raymond (keyboards, guitar); Pete Way (bass); Andy Parker (drums). Recorded at C.P. McGregor's and Western Avenue, Los Angeles, California and The West 3rd Carrier Station, Beverly Hills, California. UFO's Obsession was to be their last studio record with star guitarist Michael Schenker. It did indeed contain lots of prime metal cuts, but some of the material ultimately fell flat. "Only You Can Rock Me" kicks off the album with a fun and carefree feel, while the funky "Pack It Up (And Go)" contains some John Bonham-like drumming courtesy of Andy Parker. The opening momentum is carried on through the slow Zeppelin groove of "Ain't No Baby," but soon the band hits the skids. The group takes a crack at a power ballad, which ends up sounding like an Elton John throwaway ("Lookin' Out for No. 1") and a couple of blah, clichéd rockers ("Hot 'N' Ready" and "One More for the Rodeo"), both anchored by Pete Way's ultra-simplistic ...
