1980's Heavy Metal Saxon - one of the great metal bands of the 80's. Innocense is no excuse rocks!!! By minnesotamick (Wayne, Michigan)
Get This! I think this is one of Saxon's better efforts. The writing is good, the performance is excellent, the energy still raw, and the presentation is polished. Not widely available so get it while you can. By a reviewer (Henderson, Nevada, USA)
Heavy Metal At It's Best One of Saxon's best albums, crunching guitars and strong rhythm section makes this a heavy metal classic. If your a Saxon Fan and don't own this CD,buy it.Or if you love H.M.,buy it,you won't be disappointed. By chrispackers (Texas , USA)
last classic line-up record!!! This is definitely a commercial effort. But brilliant!!! Every song has a catchy hook. The last classic line-up record. Big sound and awesome musicians. By dalaga (Bastrop tx) This review is for a different format.
| last of the great writing team this was the last saxon record with the great writing team of byford, dawson, oliver and quinn. however after 25 years i was very suprised to read in the inlay that it was biff and steve dawson who wrote this entire album, this was there first with emi and i liked it, like rock the nations the single back on the streets was just ok and broken heroes gets old after a few spins but the rest of this opus is a real mid 80s metal rocker, check out call of the wild, devils ride out, live fast die young, krakatoa, rockin again, gonna shout, everybody up and rock n roll gypsey, real great record here for 1985, i remember this era well, this was when saxon started to come under a lot of pressure to crack it big like maiden and def leppard had so this is a polished up sounding record, its no strong arm or denim and leather but it was still a fantastic saxon effort but it was to bad they fired steve dawson right after this tour in 1986. my only complaint is the mastering could have been a lot better.
