This interview disc features conversations with the Southern California punk-rock band as well as extras like a color poster and booklet.
Like all the other entries in the Maximum series, Maximum Blink 182 is an audio biography of blink-182, relying somewhat on interviews with the band itself, but largely consisting of narration -- here written by Martin Harper and read by Sian Jones. Jones has a nice voice -- she sounds perfect for BBC radio, at least to American ears -- but the blink-182 story just isn't that interesting, unless you're a really big fan. And if you're a really big fan, this may be interesting for one listen, but it's hardly the kind of thing that will find its way back into the player on a regular basis. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan offers up something to fill the collective void of fans eagerly awaiting a follow up to AENIMA. Keenan teamed with Tool guitar tech and A Perfect Circle guitarist/composer Billy Howerdel for MER DE NOMS, which is both a band effort and an engaging hard rock album, recorded while Tool renegotiated with their label and other band members took a break.
