A-ha's sixth studio CD (seventh if their greatest-hits collection is included) came seven years after their previous album, Memorial Beach, and in that time it seems that a-ha mellowed out. They do not seem to have concern about attracting the youth/dance market, but instead seem to be focusing in on how to make perfect middle-of-the-road pop songs with '90s technology. This is not a criticism, as it produces several fantastic songs, such as "Little Black Heart" and the wonderful "I Wish That I Cared." These, and many others, are full of catchy, beautiful melodies and Morten Harket's vocals are near perfect as usual -- his voice has not lowered one octave since their debut. The one problem with this CD is the relative sameness to some of the music. The tempos do not change a great deal, and by the end the songs seem to run together. More variety would have been beneficial. However, in terms of production, this is as close to perfect as a CD can get, and the lyrics keep things interesting throughout. Overall, a good album, and one that fans will enjoy. ~ Aaron Badgley
Unavailable in the U.S. Minor Earth/Major Sky was the sixth album from the Norwegian trio, released in 2000, and their first full length release in eight years. The trio's mature, melodic and atmospheric songwriting skills come to the for on this album. While they never revert to the bubbly sound of 'Take On Me', a-Ha managed to create an updated version of their sound without relying on retro-synth nostalgia. Minor Earth/Major Sky features 13 tracks including the singles 'Summer Moved On' and the gorgeous 'Velvet'. Warner. Minor Earth/Major Sky Music Minor Earth/Major Sky Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews 5 stars not enough! Probably the best album put out that year. Excellent arrangements, the playing is impeccable, and the production seamless. The title track, in its album version is quite unlike anything else I have heard. Spacy, dark, melodic, threatening, all at the same time. The ballads are languid and totally captivating. This is so good- why has everyone not in Europe missed it. Submitted by David Martin (Mt. The 80's aren't dead yet... I grow up on A-Ha, INXS, and anything rock. The 80's where my time for music, and this new cd from A-Ha delivers. This CD gets back to the bands roots, and hits you with soulful-tracks like "I wish i cared", andd "Minor earth Major sky". It's great for driving or just listening on the back porch. Enjoy.

Still impressive after all this time... This album was a tough listen the first time around - I was making a 6-hour drive home for Thanksgiving. I kept wanting to stop and listen to the lyrics more carefully. I must say, I'm impressed with how far Morten has come over the years. The songs he wrote were some of the best on the album. This isn't the bubble-gum pop feel of "Take on Me," so approach it with depth and intellectualism. Tremendous! Submitted by a reviewer (Mesa, AZ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Minor Earth/Major Sky album
$10.49 Out of print in the U.S.! Scoundrel Days was the Norwegian trio's sophomore album, originally released in 1986. For anyone expecting a repeat of their debut album (and it's hit single 'Take On Me') were surprised to find a darker, moodier beast altogether. Scoundrel Days that seemed to shake off the bubblegummy Synthpop sound of their debut and replace it with an equally melodic batch of eclectic tracks that relied heavily on atmosphere. Features the singles 'Cry Wolf', 'I've Been Losing You' and 'Manhattan Skyline'.
While not quite as strong as the band's debut, Scoundrel Days is still ...

Minor Earth/Major Sky CD music
$10.55 It's hard to say if Basho-Junghans will be spoken of in later generations with the same revered awe given to John Fahey, Sandy Bull, or namesake/inspiration Robbie Basho, but the German guitarist continues to demonstrate why his work could hold that promise on Waters in Azure. Consisting of four tracks, two of them being multi-part pieces, Waters in Azure in Basho-Junghans' own words draws inspiration from both liquid and color, "related to structure, space, and state." One need not know the philosophical inspirations ...

Minor Earth/Major Sky music CDs
$7.59 British pop singer Cliff Richard's SILVER contains the songs "Hold On," "Ocean Deep," and "Love Stealer," among others.
Cliff Richard's Silver, recorded to commemorate his 25th anniversary in music, is a fairly solid if slightly inconsistent piece of early-'80s pop/rock, tinged with elements of funk and soul. Some of it is a little too languid, or predictable, or just plain tuneless for its own good, but there are also some eminently danceable tracks that might've been handled just as well by the late-'70s Bee Gees -- "Never Say Die (Give a Little Bit More)," the single off of the album, and "Silver's Home Tonight," "Baby You're Dynamite," and "The Golden Days Are Over," are enjoyable later-era Richard rockers, and balance nicely with ...
