GOING PUBLIC was nominated for Best Rock Gospel Album in the 37th Annual Grammy Awards.
For the most part, Going Public is a first-rate pop/rock album from this Australian-based band. Although there are traces of dogma in the lyrics, there is enough variety, depth, and cleverness both musically and lyrically to make the album a winner. The first two numbers, "Real Good Thing" (with a great thumping bassline) and "Shine," are extremely hook-laden and musically hard to resist. Lyrically, the album looks at the themes of unmerited grace, being open with one's faith, and the cost of discipleship, among others. Musically, the recording runs the gamut from the ballad "Be Still" to the almost punky "Lights Out" (which is critical of those who are sure of the timing of the Second Coming), with a good balance between slower and uptempo cuts. The best moment on the album is the last cut, "Elle G." It is the story from a survivor's point of view of trying to come to terms with a friend who has committed suicide. What makes this song so outstanding is its honesty, lyrical depth, and the complex musical journey that accompanies the story line. The words reveal both deep compassion and acute anger, in addition to trying to bring a greater meaning to the event in a larger context. The ending guitar solo fits extremely well with the lyrical content, while the entire cut leaves a lasting impression on the listener. The willingness to go deeply into such a subject matter and admit some ambiguity may be seen as a sign of weakness to some believers, but in this case it brings a profundity that is not expected, and most welcome. ~ Michael Ofjord Newsboys Going Public Songs Going Public Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars)   Newsboys a great alternative
The Newsboys are a rock/alternative band with a great twist on life! I have thoroughly enjoyed their hard rocking rythms and their unique way of expressing life. Going Public is an excellant album with an excellant message!

 The best of the "Former" Newsboys
The Newsboys are my favorite band and sometime ago, my brother showed me this cd, of Going Public. Though I still prefer today's group of Peter Furler, Jody Davis, Duncan Phillips, Phil Joel, and Jeff Frankenstein, I believe that Going Public (with the addition of John James) is a great and wonderful, inspiring cd. You should bye it today!

The Delta 72's third album finds the hardest-working band in the indie-rock business progressing from uptempo maximum R&B reminiscent of '60s heroes like the Small Faces and the Rolling Stones to a looser, funkier sound based on those bands' '70s inheritors: the Faces and, well, the Rolling Stones. It's a bit of a shame that the incredible energy on their first two albums has been tempered slightly. Still, the Delta 72 rechannel that energy in other ways, from the testifying gospel bliss of the opener "Are You Ready?" to the outboard grooves and raucous vocals on "Just Another Let Down." Hammond organ or electric piano accompany many of the tracks, and though that's not a new addition to the Delta 72 sound, the way they're played points more to gospel and soul than the manic white-boy R&B they'd always championed. Released a few months after 1995's I CARE BECAUSE YOU DO, Aphex Twin's two vinyl-only HANGABLE AUTO BULB EPs (presented under the alias AFX) became highly sought-after collectibles for electronica fans. In 2005, the Warp label celebrated the 10th anniversary of these EPs by compiling them into a single reissue release that proved to be nothing short of a revelation.
The collected eight tracks on HANGABLE AUTO BULB share some degree of sonic similarity with I CARE, but Aphex Twin (AKA British techno iconoclast Richard D.
