$16.45 LEON & POWELL: The Bio Once upon a time in the city of Toronto, two young women kept meeting in recording studios while working on other artists' projects. They put the band Sunday's Children together and quickly became well known playing Toronto's Queen Street West club scene. They released a self-titled EP and had two songs climb to the top on the College radio station charts. Just before their scheduled meeting with M.C.A. Records of Canada, Deborah and Sherrie were "Born Again" and the band split, with members going their separate ways to pursue solo careers. Reuniting two years later, Deborah and Sherrie became licensed ministers, traveling and ministering in Word and music at various churches, leading worship at Ladies' retreats, playing at concerts and youth rallies across Canada. They continued to write and record 5 more albums which they sold to support their ministry. Leon and Powell come at their music from two different directions. $14.79 We are honored to be able to present you a new recording of The Linville Ridge Band, titled Hopes and Dreams. As usual, we have included some original songs along with some songs from years past. Bluegrass, both Gospel and secular, presented with a blend of contemporary and traditional styles. Some folks say this is North Carolina piedmont bluegrass, relying heavily on mandolin and banjo breaks and trio harmonies. There are also songs with duets, a bit of fiddle and modern flatpicked guitar. Then, there's dobro or as it is known now, resophonic guitar. Upright bass forms the foundation from which the rest of the instruments spring forth.Much of the music on this recording draws inspiration from the music of Bill Monroe's band of the mid-forties.
