| | Rob Stone No Worries CD Rob Stone Discography of CDs
Although they're solidly rooted in postwar Chicago blues tradition (spiced with a serious tendency to swing), labeling Rob Stone & The C-Notes a traditional blues band would be an injustice to their imagination. This young Windy City combo is charting its own direction. The band has paid plenty of dues in its short life, as an integral member of the touring band of Sam Lay - the blues shuffle master drummer (of Paul Butterfield and Siegal-Schwall fame) - from 1994 to 1998. Prior to that, Rob played harmonica in various bands in his home town of Boston, after picking up the instrument at age eighteen, inspired by seeing Charlie Musselwhite in concert. Chris James, lead guitarist of the C-Notes, at age thirteen started playing harmonica with San Diego's Tomcat Courtney. After ten years with Tomcat, Chris took up guitar, eventually moving to Chicago and hooking up with Sam Lay in 1991. He and bassist Patrick Rynn currently also tour with Jody Williams. Patrick came up early in blues too, playing bass for Griswold Brothers and Big Jack Reynolds - the mainstays of the Toledo blues scene for many years. Chris and Pat formed a musical unit in 1990, and have played together since. On this Earwig debut album, this dynamic trio is joined by Sam Lay on seven cuts, and by Dave Myers on guitar on three numbers. These are the last recordings of Dave Myers, who along with his guitarist brother Louis Myers and drummer Fred Below were instumental in modernizing the Chicago blues sound in the 1950s. Since 1998, Rob, Chris and Patrick have been working as the C-Notes, forging a fresh sound with solid songwriting by Rob and Chris, while remaining true to a Chicago blue tradition.

| | Until The Shaking Stops: A Salute To Jawbox CD (2004)
No Worries album
$10.65 Our goal in doing this tribute to Jawbox was to include material representing the entire catalog, and also to have bands from all over the country included on the record. As a result, we managed to have at least two songs from each of the four Jawbox full-length releases. Having a broad representation resulted in what some will feel are obvious omissions (thought was even given to calling the record Un-Savory because of its omission!), but the overall end product shows the breadth and diversity of the Jawbox catalog.A portion of the proceeds from this project is being contributed to the benefit of the Lupus Foundation of America.Who's on the record:New York based Retisonic features former members of Bluetip and Garden Variety. The band contributes "Cooling Card" from the For Your Own Special Sweetheart record. Retisonic records for Silverthree Records.Arena Rock recording artist Pilot to Gunner weighs in with a B-side. "68" was originally on the Savory +3 EP and appears again on the My Scrapbook of Fatal Accidents compilation. Pilot to Gunner is from Brooklyn.St. ...

$9.85 Mark Greenberg, Drums:One summer day, while picking tobacco, Mark came upon a magic mushroom. He ate it and had a revelation (among other things). Play drums in a band; it's the only way you're gonna meet chicks. And play he did. Mark began playing drums at age 14. His teachers included Alan Dawson, Gary Chaffee, Ed Soph and Joe Hunt. A few years later, he attended the Berklee College of Music, mostly for the fine dining, but also majored in Music Performance and actually graduated. During his stay (incarceration) there, he was recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts and awarded several grants for music study. Since graduating from Berklee, he has performed and recorded extensively with many artists including Dickey Betts & Great Southern (Allman Brothers Band), Ratdog (Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead), The Dave Matthews Band (DMB), Joss Stone, Charlie Daniels, Dr. Didg, Roomful Of Blues, Larry Coryell, The Doobie Brothers, Roy Hargrove, Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters, ...

$13.29 The Del Moroccos - Blue Black hair reaches No. 7 on the Euro Americana charts! "Good Stuff!"- Richard Milne, WXRT, Chicago's Finest Rock"Fabulous debut by this hot Chicago outfit, a 13-song party record to boot!-GMB, Blue Suede NewsBlue Black Hair ticks all the right rockin' boxes and is definately one for the shopping list!- Pete O'Gorman, Now Dig This, UK".....(the Del Moroccos) repped for Chicago well, blurring the lines between rockabilly and early-60s soul, without the narrow-minded myopia that sinks most newer 'billy acts."- James Porter, Time Out Chicago So authentically retro a name—amazingly, nobody used it back in the day—tells you right off that the eight piece led by Jimmy Sutton, formerly of The Mighty Blue Kings, currently with The Four Charms, and fronted by his wife Gabrielle is in the vintage business. A Chicago all-star ensemble, featuring backing vocals by Barbara Clifford of The Honeybees and Suzy Brack of The New Jack Lords, with musicians from various other local bands, including San Antonio’s Beau Sample, borrowed from Joel Paterson & The Modern Sounds, The Del Moroccos, with some personnel changes, have built a reputation for killer live shows and introduced original material, but their showcase album is all covers. So the question one asks is how deep did they dig? Well, “Baby Doll (unknown)” is a pretty good start—try Googling a title like that and see where it gets you. It’s followed by a gender flip of Harold Burrage’s She Knocks Me Out, Big Maybelle’s That’s A Pretty Good Love, Ruth Brown’s I Don’t Know, Faye Reis’ Don’t Break My Heart, Joy Shaw & The Teasers’ Daddy You Lied To Me, Chan Romero’s I Want Some More, the title track, originally recorded by The Jades on Gaity, once famed as “America’s most primitive label,” Etta James’s I’d Rather Go Blind, 60s Spanish rock & roll band Los Sirex’s El Tren De La Costa (aka Tiny Bradshaw’s Train Kept A-Rolling), Billy Haley & The Comets’ Skinny Minnie reworked as ...
