Memphis Belle Movie Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) We have got to drop our bombs in the pickle barrel! This line in the movie always disturbed me. Here we have a pilot that in now the lead plane in a formation of b-17 bombers, all bombing on his command. After already flying once on the bomb run the target in covered with clouds. The formation has alreadt lost planes and he is concered about collateral damage. I understand that they would have had a important target to hit, but to risk the lives of American Airmen in an effort to limit collateral damage seams so foolish to me when a watched the movie and the whole crew is saying to the pilot commander lets drop the bombs and get the hell out of here, I was with them. I think the movie had a good plot but was a little slow and I was a little bored by the end. The forshadowing of the earlier plane not getting its landing grear down was obvious that was going to happen latter in the film!!! Intense flying film Even though the special effects are kind of crappy for an early 90s film,it still manages to be good entertainment. Submitted by Blake (Brandon,MS) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Enjoyable Flick In my humble opinion Memphis Belle is a very entertaining movie. All the actors do a tremendous job but special honors go to D B Sweeney who plays the navigator who believes this last mission of the Memphis Belle will be his waterloo. He can't shake the feeling that his time is up, and he will not survive. He becomes obssessed with trying to give his possessions away to his crew mates. You actually care about these characters and by the end of the movie you feel as if you are part of the crew. Some critics point out gaffes in the movie. Well, every movie has mistakes made in them, and I say so what! The only gripe I have is the part of the dialog in which the crew talks about trying not to cause civilian casualities. This concept is out of place in a WWII movie where winning the war was the object not worrying about civilians being hurt or killed. That unique concept is for modern era warfare not back in WWII. Other than that I have no quarrel with the script. The actors are believeable, the story is good, and the movie is enjoyable to watch and leaves you with a good feeling. That's what movies are all about. Submitted by Karen (Little Rock, Arkansas, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Could have been a good story... This had the possibility of being a good WWII story. It had plenty of content and character to build upon. But, it spent way too much time on what was an attempt at character development. It was slow moving and boring at times. The language was more suited for an R rated film. Once it finally got to the 1 and only mission actually portrayed it started to get interesting, but, it was too late to recover. Submitted by a reviewer (Medford, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? $8.79 SUPERFLY, along with COFFY and SHAFT, completes Blaxploitations's best known
triumvirate. One of the highest-grossing pictures of 1972, SUPERFLY became an instant classic, and established director Gordon Parks firmly in Warner Brothers' sights to make THREE THE HARD WAY in 1974. Parks was one of the first African American directors to get financing from a major Hollywood studio to make the 1969 film THE LEARNING TREE.
Super Fly is a cocaine dealer who begins to realize that his life will soon end with either prison or his death. He decides to build an escape from the life by making his biggest deal yet, converting the coke to cash and running off to start a new life. The problem is that the Mob does not have a retirement plan and will give him a choice of staying and selling for them or dying if they find out his intentions. With a terrific score by Curtis Mayfield and a star wearing threads to match, SUPERFLY is chock full ...

$10.09 Although packaged as an action-thriller, this is really a very peculiar psychodrama with whacked-out West Coast characters and ambiance. Good-hearted Mississippi boy Ray Frye (Leet) accidentally killed a perverted LA woman during sex (!). Now her
vengeful husband, an addict cop no less (and Rourke to boot), is waiting to strike when Frye gets out of prison. But Ray goes out of the Frye pen and into the fire when, on parole, he boards with the scheming little family of a chintzy ...

$18.95 XXX: This amped action drama stars Vin Diesel as Xander (aka Triple X), a rebellious extreme sports star with a mission to defy authority and create anarchy. In the dramatic opening scene of the movie, Xander pulls an outrageous serious of stunts with the help of a band of similar-minded jocks, broadcasts the whole event live onto the Internet with a network of strategically placed digital cameras, and then avoids being captured by the squadron of police who pursue him. When Triple X is later taken into custody, Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson), a representative from a government agency, hires the chiseled athlete and turns him into a secret agent with a mission to travel to Prague and collapse a dangerous terrorist cell operated by Yorgi (Martin Csokas) and the seductive Yelena (Asia Argento). Triple X is quickly drawn into Yorgi's lair, a stunning chateau situated in the mountains that is equipped with every high-tech modern amenity imaginable, along with a sizeable team of extra-large Slav bodyguards, a laboratory staffed by top scientists, and an always-ready gaggle of gorgeous concubines. Non-stop stunts, pounding hard-core music, elaborate sets, and inventive costumes make this Rob Cohen-directed adrenaline overload a visually exciting, aurally engaging, highly entertaining success.
XXX: STATE OF THE UNION: Ice Cube replaces Vin Diesel for this hard-bangin' sequel which favors fists, cars, and snooping over the original's heavy dose of extreme sports stunts. NSA agent Gibbons (Samuel Jackson, back from the original) finds his group under attack by well-armed, well-informed combatants, forcing him to activate a new XXX, Darius Stone (Cube), an old Navy Seal buddy currently cooling his heels in an army prison. It turns out there's a plan to whack the president (Peter Strauss) and a deranged secretary of defense played by Willem Dafoe is behind it. What's more important is the cool way Darius knows how to land a speeding boat on a bridge, then walk away in slow motion as it blows up behind him. Other great scenes include a tank battle on an aircraft carrier and a race with a bullet train that makes THE FRENCH CONNECTION look like a turtle race. There's some hilarious dialogue, such as when Darius recruits his old D.C. car-jacking buddies to ride into battle against the corrupt militia, leading to the "first tank-jacking ...

Memphis Belle film
$12.99 Beautiful soft-core cult princess Christina Lindberg plays a young woman who lost her innocence at a tragically early age in a brutal sexual assault that left her mute for life. She grows up working on a remote farm, but when she misses her bus one day, she is picked up by an appealingly dapper man who drugs her and forces her into a life of prostitution, addiction, and subjugation. When she rebels, her pimp retaliates by gouging out her eye; her last straw is her parents' death, inciting her to seek vengeance. Training as a martial artist and accustoming herself to firearms, she becomes a singleminded killing machine as she extracts revenge from all those who have mistreated her for so long.
THRILLER - A CRUEL PICTURE is a cult gem of exploitation cinema, released here entirely intact for the first time in America, with over 20 minutes of restored footage; the graphic sex and violence is offset by the look and pace of an arthouse film, making apparent the fact that director Arne Vibenius studied under Ingmar Bergman. Lindberg's character is the acknowledged inspiration of Quentin Tarantino's, who calls it "the roughest revenge movie ever made!"
Growing up mute after a childhood sexual assault, a young girl (Christina Lindberg) spends years working on a remote farm. After missing the bus one day, she is picked up by a suave young man who ...

Memphis Belle movie DVD
$9.79 In 2004, Zhang Yimou caused a sensation with his astonishing HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, and his CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER is yet another dazzling, visually stunning film. Calling again upon the talents of the striking Gong Li, Yimou tells an epic tale of lust and power set in the opulent world of the Later Tang dynasty. The plot follows the story of the Emperor (Chow Yun Fat) and his Empress (Li) and the tragic disintegration of their royal family--whose problems go far beyond the merely dysfunctional. For starters, the ailing Empress has long been having an affair with her stepson, the Crown Prince Wan (Liu Ye). Unbeknownst to her, Wan has been dallying with the Imperial Doctor's daughter (Li Man), and has plans to escape the palace with her. Meanwhile, the Emperor himself has just returned from a long trip, and while relations with his wife are obviously icy, it becomes clear that his plans for her are far more ominous than she could ever imagine. Everyone involved has a secret plan for either escape or domination, resulting in an explosive ending wherein the darkest family secrets are revealed and horrifically bloody battles are waged both inside and outside the walls of the sparkling, gold-encrusted palace.
Yimou appears to be trying to balance his flair for telling an emotional story with his talent for thrilling, detail-driven action sequences, and while CURSE's plot does at times seem close to that of a soap opera, the phenomenal performances and breathtaking visuals are more than enough to power the film forward. Fans of Yimou's quieter work (RIDING ALONG FOR THOUSANDS OF MILES) are likely to enjoy the dramatic exploration of family relationships, while there are still plenty of hissing ninjas to satisfy DAGGERS enthusiasts.
Curse of the Golden Flower fuses high drama and romantic intrigue with the best of contemporary martial arts. Set in the lavish and breathtakingly ...
