This 103 minute feature film is a DVD starring Humphrey Bog art and Ingrid Bergman. World War II Morocco springs to life in Michael Curtiz's (THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, YANKEE DOODLE DANDY) classic love story. Colorful characters abound in Casablanca, a waiting room for Europeans trying to escape Hitler's war-torn Europe. Humphrey Bogart plays Richard "Rick" Blaine, a cynical but good-hearted American whose café is the gathering place for everyone from the French Police to the black market to the Nazis. When his long-lost love, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), surfaces in Casablanca with her Resistance leader husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), Rick is pulled into both a love triangle and a web of political intrigue. Ilsa and Victor need to escape from Casablanca, and Rick may be the only one who can help them. The question is, will he?
Top-notch performances include Claude Rains as the chief of the French police and the major authority figure in Unoccupied France, Peter Lorre as the doomed Senor Ugarte, Sydney Greenstreet as Senor Ferrari, and Dooley Wilson as Rick's loyal friend and the café's pianist, Sam. The mesmerizing musical score, by Max Steiner, along with the well-structured plot, flawless acting, and unforgettable dialogue makes this one of the best films of all time. CASABLANCA was an original selection to the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 1989.
"As Time Goes By," the song that became this film's anthem, not to mention theme song, was originally written for the Broadway musical EVERYBODY'S WELCOME, which opened on October 13, 1931 and ran for 139 performances. The composer, Herman Hupfeld, was also known for the song "When Yuba Plays the Rumba on the Tuba."
The film's producer, Hal B. Wallis, was awarded the Academy's Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1943.
In his 1995 memoir MY AMERICAN JOURNEY, General Colin Powell lists CASABLANCA as one of his favorite films.

If youve never seen this classic, now is the time. I put it off for too long and am so glad I finally made the purchase to see this American classic.

According to Lauren Bacall, this movie is considered by many, to be the second best movie of all time. Although she doesn't say so, I'm sure Citizen Kane is in the number one slot. Considering the status placed on this film you would expect a certain amount of respect in the releasing of this movie. I felt that this release does not disappoint. It includes many behind the scenes interviews and shots that have become common on DVD releases. What makes this special, is that you don't generally get this kind of background on a film that is over 60 years old. While many of the sound tracks for the extras were lost many years ago, it is fascinating to see what has been saved after all this time. It also is an insight into the acting craft and how it was viewed at that time in watching the outtakes.
All time great movie and an excellent DVD release.

Not to be missed. Captured the greatest moments of the forties Hollywood with the top stars and almost every one of the great character actors of that era:

It could be argued that without REM's hit single "Man on the Moon" there wouldn't have been an Andy Kaufman biopic in 1999, so it was only appropriate that director Milos Forman hired the band to write the score for his film. Based on score excerpts on the Man on the Moon soundtrack, they've made some intriguing music, drawing heavily from the spirit and textures of Automatic for the People, but the record itself only give hints of the score. Since this is a soundtrack, and not a score album, there are other songs missing here that are heard in the movie, and as a '90s soundtrack, it also has snippets of dialogue scattered throughout its entirety. As a matter of fact, it often feels like the music is merely a device to connect dialogue and comedic songs, including Kaufman's signature "Mighty Mouse Theme," two songs performed by Jim Carrey (one as Kaufman, one as his alter-ego Tony Clifton), a duet between REM and Carrey's Kaufman and Clifton, and an archival Kaufman performance from a 1982 appearance on David Letterman. Throw in REM's "Man on the Moon" plus their tailored-for-the-film "The Great Beyond" (a solid but blatant, uplifting rewrite of "Man on the Moon"), Bob James' "Angela (Theme from Taxi)," and Exile's "Kiss You All Over," and you have precious little original REM score on this album -- so little that it often feels like it's missing from the album. CITIZEN KANE is Orson Welles's greatest achievement--and a landmark of cinema history. The story charts the rise and fall of a newspaper publisher whose wealth and power ultimately isolates him in his castle-like refuge. The film's protagonist, Charles Foster Kane, was based on a composite of Howard Hughes and William Randolph Hearst--so much so that Hearst tried to have the film suppressed. Every aspect of the production marked an advance in film language: the deep focus and deeply shadowed cinematography (from Gregg Toland); the discontinuous narrative, relying heavily on flashbacks and newsreel footage (propelled by a script largely written by Herman L. Mankiewicz); the innovative use of sound and score (sound by Bailey Fesler and James G. Stewart, music composed and conducted by Bernard Herrmann); and the ensemble acting forged in the fires of Welles's Mercury Theatre (featuring the film debuts of, among others, Joseph Cotten, Everett Sloane, and Agnes Moorehead). Every moment of the film, every shot, has been choreographed to perfection. The film is essential viewing, quite possibly the greatest film ever made and, along with THE BIRTH OF A NATION, certainly the most influential.

On an American military base in Japan, a new kind of vampire emerges: Teropterids. They are monstrous shape-shifting creatures that can only be killed with special swords. A mysterious girl named Saya is the last "original," the only person capable of dealing with the menace of these monsters. Posing as a student at the base's school, Saya races to hunt down the beasts before they turn an ordinary Halloween bash into a bloody massacre. Production IG, known for their pioneering digital effects, describes BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE as a full digital animation movie, which means that even though many sequences were animated using pencil and paper, the artwork was digitally scanned. Inking and coloring were completed by computer, as were several other special effects. Hiroyuki Kitakubo was chosen to direct the project because of his digital experience (he oversaw the movie sequences in the GHOST IN THE SHELL game for the Sony PlayStation.) The film is also notable for the participation of screenwriter Mamoru Oshii, who helmed GHOST IN THE SHELL and has written a novel that takes place in BLOOD's universe. Despite its resemblance to BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, BLOOD succeeds in creating its own gloomy, chiaroscuro world.

While the show had always been topical, its relevance ascended to new heights with episodes about a bombing in London. Though they aired a few months after the real-life events, they were written before the attacks on London's public transportation system. While fellow spy show ALIAS provides an entertaining escape for its audience, MI-5 never fails to challenge its viewers with fast-paced action grounded in reality.

Cult filmmaker Aristide Massaccesi (aka "Joe D'Amato") directed this softcore sleazefest which rather unsuccessfully weds a traditional '70s Italian crime film with raunchy (if not particularly graphic) sexual situations. Two thugs rob a Mafia-protected drugstore and take a female hostage from a nearby porn shop, coincidentally owned by the same mobster, Martin. With their captive in tow, the pair of thieves meet up with their other partner and flee for the Canadian border, stopping off at a mansion in Connecticut where three college kids have broken in to have a party. Various sexual escapades ensue before Martin and his gang track down the thieves. Anne Maria Clementi, Brigitte Petronio, Fernando Ceruli, and Christian Borromeo star.
Distraught over his feelings for Mizuho, Kei has slipped into another 'standstill.' In the depths of his mind, Kei meets a phantom from his past with whom he discusses the joys and sorrows of life. Back aboard her spaceship, Mizuho must decide whether or not to break Galaxy Federation rules in order to revive Kei or risk losing him forever! The choice is made. How can Kei move forward with his normal high school life when he's missing a piece of his heart?
