This 116 minute feature film is a DVD starrinng Alicia Gor anson, Alison Folland and Chloe Sevigny. Kimberly Peirce's directorial debut tells the gut-wrenching true story of Teena Brandon, a Midwestern female who disguised herself as a man. Relocating to Falls City, Nebraska, from Lincoln, she managed to convince her newfound group of friends that she was Brandon Teena. The film treats these events with a painful objectivism, as Brandon's relationships with her friends John, Tom, Kate, Candace, and Lana unfold toward their inevitably horrific conclusion. A shining example of independent filmmaking at its most impassioned. Hilary Swank appeared in the short film THE AUDITION with her husband, Chad Lowe, who also wrote and directed it. Boys Don't Cry Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Devastating Tough to watch. This is a pathetic story in the old sense of the word. Hilary Swank is completely credible in a challenging role. A sad, true story - very well told. Submitted by Jeff (Brooklyn, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
TRANSEXUAL OR HILLARY? This movie does make you forget that hillary swank is a girl in real life. I read this book, "All she wanted" it is a true story and it is very sad, but true. I feel for people with gender ID. It's a sad thing and some people are really born like this. I never realized the power Swank has over an audiance, she is riviting. GREAT ACTRESS, they finally gave the right award to the right person here! She's come a long way from 90210!! Submitted by Stacey (Manteca, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$8.55 In Tim Burton's stylish, creepy retelling of the classic Washington Irving story, SLEEPY HOLLOW, Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is a squeamish, bookish 18th century New York City investigator sent to a small town in lower Westchester county to look into three mysterious decapitations. When the always rational Crane arrives at the little Dutch village, he finds that most of the townsfolk believe the culprit to be the Headless Horseman, the ghost ...

Boys Don't Cry review
$6.29 Pleased with the success of 1996's initial presentation, HBO gathered another group of successful actresses for IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK 2. Set in the same suburban house as the original--but with different inhabitants--this made-for-cable trilogy is a dramatic exploration into the lives of three separate lesbian couples in three different moments in history. The first chapter, 1961, tells the somber story of an aging woman (Vanessa Redgrave) who is left facing prejudice and intolerance after the death of her longtime companion. Unable to come to terms with her complex situation, she is forced ...

Boys Don't Cry movie DVD
$7.15 The legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday changed the face of pop music forever during the 1930s and 40s, imbuing her every song with the richness and tragedy of her own life and experiences. With a troubled childhood, and later an equally difficult romantic life, as well as substance abuse problems, Holiday's personal story ensured her notoriety; yet it was just this sense of pathos that made her music so affecting. With a broad range of emotion that was always intense and heartfelt, Holiday deviated from traditional notions of jazz singing to create her own style of singing that was passionate, poignant, and heartbreaking. THE GENIUS OF LADY DAY collects rare TV clips, as well as her sole appearance in a feature film, playing a maid in Arthur Lubin's NEW ORLEANS (1947). Completing the bill is the extremely rare 15-minute short ...

Boys Don't Cry DVD
$25.69 Director Sam Raimi's first film has achieved legendary status since its 1982 release, and for good reason. Though perhaps not as widely seen as its two sequels, EVIL DEAD 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS, THE EVIL DEAD is arguably the best of the three. It is the story of five college-age friends who travel to a cabin in rural Tennessee where the stumble upon the Book of the Dead, an ancient tome bound in human flesh and inked in blood. After unwittingly awakening the unspeakable terror told of in the book, each of the friends is transformed into the evil dead, one by one, except for Ash (Bruce Campbell). So, Ash is left with no other way to survive than to dismember the living corpses of his sister, girlfriend, and two of his friends. Shot on a shoestring budget, the film boasts some impressive camera work and extremely over-the-top gore effects as well as a sense of humor much more subtle than the tongue-in-cheek aesthetic of the ...
