Young Frankenstein review Product Description
Young Frankenstein movie was released Nov 03, 1998 by the 20th Century Fox studio. An affectionate parody that pays homage to the FRANKENSTEIN films (from the novel FRANKENSTEIN by Mary Shelley) directed by James Whale in the 1930s, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is both a zany comedy and a cinematic tour de force. Written by director Mel Brooks and the film's star, Gene Wilder, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN has all the usual--and in this case slightly unusual--suspects: the reluctant scientist Frederick Frankenstein, who is actually the grandson of the infamous creature-creator (pronounced "Fronken-steen" and played by Wilder), his spoiled fiancée (Madeline Kahn), Igor the pop-eyed hunchback (Marty Feldman), his dizzy assistant (Teri Garr), the castle's hideous head housekeeper (Cloris Leachman), and, of course, the Monster (Peter Boyle). Highlights include the sets, which are the original ones used in the Whale films; the beautiful black-and-white cinematography; and the fine screenplay. Combining noirish elegance with uproarious sight gags and double entendres is a feat Brooks pulls off fabulously, directing the wonderful ensemble to act with sensitivity and humanistic feelings as well as with lunatic abandon. ...See Full Description

Solid and Superb Young Frankenstein video One of Mel Brooks' very best because he stayed on the subject-matter. Lots of satire and in-jokes,especially familiar to those who know the old Frankenstein movies. All the stars are absolutely outstanding and it's impossible to give any particular one lots of huzzahs! And wait'll you see who plays the Blind Man! One of those few comedies where you'll burst out laughing in your own living room. By a reviewer (Massapequa, NY, USA)
Oh so funny One of the funniest movies ever made. By a reviewer (Massachusetts)
A "must see" film and "must have" dvd. You will roll on the flour laughing. This film is one of the funniest I have ever seen. Better if you have seen the original "Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff. The dvd contains many extra footages and long deleted scenes that really count. I was just disappointed that the photograph of cover of the DVD which I received did not correspond to that presented on the advertisement. By a reviewer (Paris, France)
5 Star Movie Young Frankenstein is a comedy classic that should be in everyone's collection. I still laugh out loud at this great comedy effort, even after veiwing this flic 4 or 5 dozen times. By a reviewer (Daytona)
| One of his best Any fan of the wacky humor of Mel Brooks must see this film. Clever dialogue and excellent cast make this Frankenstein spoof one of the funniest movies ever made. I became a fan of Mel Brooks and have seen most of his films, of which Young Frankenstein is one of the best. Gene Wilder makes a perfect Dr. Frankenstein, and Marty Feldman is hilarious as a bizarre Igor. I can honestly say that I watched the entire film, laughing the whole time. A must see.
