Although not an honest representation of the band's character, this is undoubtedly their most popular work. The one-time addition of American Kit Watkins produces some fine keyboard lead work. Rupert Hine's resourceful production and appearances by Phil Collins and Mel Collins round out this strong import release. "Survival" and "Who We Are" feature some fine orchestrations, and guitarist Latimer delivers some exceptional lead work on the album's closer, "Ice." ~ Matthew Plichta

| I Can See Your House From Here Music I Can See Your House From Here Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) One Of The Greats Unfortunately Camel got little airplay in Australia. I just happened to be at a Sunday market in Melbourne on a holiday and they were playing this.
They don't come any better a must for any collection. Not a bad track, gut Ice is a classic

I'd walk almost a mile for this Camel Familiar, engaging, and enjoyable. The Kit Watkins influence on the music is very evident, especially on the last tracks. More reminisent of "Happy the Man" than Camel. Some obvious attempts at airplay tracks at the begining, which are unoffensive, yet unengaging. Definitly worth owning, as this music is very well crafted, played, and is unique. Submitted by a reviewer (Laguna Beach, California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Perky Poppy Prog The gorgeous palette of lead guitar, interwoven with the warm undercurrent of bass and solid back wall of keyboards, will work to restore the reasons why we found this sort of music to be so beautiful in the seventies in the first place. Oddly, for me, though, the advent of Kit Watkins stands out. Mainly because his style is so unique and recognizably linked to Happy The Man. This was not exactly a detriment but it did leave me feeling that his presence gave an impression of the group dynamic being that of Kit Watkins + Camel, rather than simply Camel. I suppose I would have had the same reaction if Rick Wakeman had stepped into the keyboard spot, or even Keith Emerson. They’re all too distinctive to just blend into most groups. As to influences: You’ll hear moments that will remind one of classic Alan Parsons Project (Pyramid/Eve era), Pink Floyd (Listen to Andy Latimer’s vocals on Hymn To Her – Ah, shades of David Gilmour…). The song Remote Romance has a kind of Thomas Dolby/Buggles thing going on but I found that approach to actually be the heart of its charm (And a lot of that was due to the electronic effects sounding very un-Kit Watkins-like). Still, even with as commercially-conscious as this album was, there are still faint wisps of that ol’ Canterbury sound (You just have to really listen for them.). Overall, not an Oh-my-God-it’ll-blow-your-head-off kind of outing, but definitely deserving of a place in anyone’s classic prog/pop collection. Submitted by Barry B. I Can See Your House From Here album
$16.65 DUST AND DREAMS is a 1991 release by U.K. prog-rockers Camel, a concept album based on John Steinbeck's THE GRAPES OF WRATH.
Camel packed up their bags and moved to California, with the dust of a seven-years span of quiet on their backs, and the dream of creative freedom through their own label, Camel Productions, ahead of them. Inspired by the John Steinbeck novel "The Grapes of Wrath" (and one can only hope that Camel's westward move went smoother), Dust and Dreams is exactly the sort of labor of love that makes a private label worth having. Elegiac, literate, largely instrumental in spots, this stuff would make most label executives' eyes glaze over. It's also the sort of finely wrought music that will delight Camel fans who still fondly imagine their band in the Nude. Despite the long absence since Stationary Traveller, many familiar faces return to Camel's ranks: ...

$19.55 Strap yourself in for another dire journey with Camel. This time it's the Irish immigration to America, a fitting travel companion for Dust and Dreams or Nude. The Celtic overtones are largely dispensed with by the second track, and what emerges is a finely conceived concept album filled with rich, saturated arrangements and guitar leads that cut through the surrounding music like a beacon. More so than Dust and Dreams, Harbour of Tears feels like it was intended for the stage. The instrumentals are oftentimes simple bridges to the next phase of storytelling; the music is streamlined (even with strings and winds) to advance a linear progression in the listener's mind. If some of this seems familiar, remember that Camel have been likely to retrace the occasional familiar footprint during ...

Journey has given radio some of AOR's finest three-minute gems, both in hard rock and ballad form. Time 3 strings together all their best songs, most of them popular and some not so well known, but all extremely enjoyable and laid out over the course of three discs. Set up chronologically, the first disc unleashes their raw sound, with the first eight songs being pre-Steve Perry. With tracks from Infinity, Evolution, and Departure rounding out disc one, a young Perry sets a musical precedent with his soaring voice. Even so, "Any Way You Want It" steals the show amidst all of their ...
