Dudley Moore and Peter Cook return in the guise of their offensive alter egos for a second dose of crude tomfoolery, including scandalous improvisations on cancer, incest, masturbation, and murder. Some bits are funnier than others, but all are worth double their weight in shock value. The set's best routine is a somewhat simple tale of broken traffic laws. Prudes need not be bothered that recent CD versions of this rude 1977 album contain an additional 17-plus minutes of foul language and incoherent comedy. ~ Brian Beatty
One of the most hilarious and filthiest recordings ever made. Legend has it that the late Peter Cook (Clive) & Dudley Moore (Derek) simply progressed down several bottles of an alcoholic beverage while pontificating into their mics as their witty alter-egos. If offensive language is not your cup of tea, then take a pass. If sheer hilarity and gutter comedy are, don't pass it up!
British comedians Peter Cook and Dudley Moore let their ids flow free as the licentious duo Derek and Clive on this vintage comedy album.

| | Pale Gravity Gets Things Done CD (2003)
Come Again
$12.39 As pretty and melodic as indie pop can be, its practitioners often couch pop/rock flourish and hooks in layers of purposeful art damage, or style points impenetrable to the common man. The Pale moves in a different direction, funneling the cutesy romantic sensibilities of types like Tullycraft into utterly un-ironic pop music akin to Wheat or the Push Kings. They don't try for much more than an attractive progression, plenty of warm keys, and charmingly soft vocals from Gabe Archer -- they don't need to. "Reasons to Try" does rock tense, crunchy distortion in a nod to early Get Up Kids, but even here there are "Ba ba bah"'s in the chorus. Similarly, despite its wiry and throbbing urgency, the title track turns on Archer's wavering affirmation, "I will wait here darling/To make sure you are okay." Somebody get this guy a box of Puffs! The giddy, irresistible "Wake Up Call," "Big Dumb Smile"'s tale of teenage mischief, "Trash"'s Luna references -- these are the best moments on Gravity Gets Things Done. They clarify how happy the Pale is just to be here, how this is about making us feel good, not just exclusive or cool. ~ Johnny Loftus
"Bellingham's The Pale raise the bar on local bands with their thoughtful, dynamic approach to indie rock. Melodically infective lyrics explore the science of sensitivity. ...
| | Ellery Lying Awake CD (2006)
Come Again
$11.19 Ellery are a duo comprised of the husband-and-wife team of Justin and Tasha Golden. And "golden" is also a good way to describe the couple's radiant folk-pop. Tasha, who handles the lead vocals, sings with an inviting warmth that falls somewhere between Natalie Merchant and Sixpence None the Richer's Leigh Nash. In her whispery way, she projects a delicate but not overly fragile quality ...
| | Voices Of Dada CD (2006) Import; Remastered
Come Again
$18.85 The LTM label has long pursued an interest in Dada via earlier compilations, making Voices of Dada both a logical follow-on and its own distinct effort. Collating a variety of recordings made from the '20s to the '60s, Voices is arguably more a documentation of the impact of Dada over later years than anything else, since recordings of the original performances and poems never existed. Beginning with Hans Arp's 1961 recording of "Dada-Spruche," the disc moves between performance/recitation and reflection as numerous famous names, such as Kurt Schwitters and Tristan Tzara, are featured. On the level of pure documentation, three separate interviews in English -- of Richard Huelsenbeck ...
