| | J Geils Band Showtime (Allegro) CD - Import J Geils Band Discography of CDs
R&B-based blues-rock band J. Geils Band discovered relatively unlikely success in the early 1980s, peaking with the #1 pop hit "Centerfold." SHOWTIME!, culled from a live concert in Detroit in 1982, captures both sides of the band, the gritty and the glamorous, ending in a frenzy of the Motown-reflecting "I Do," the pure-bubblegum fun of the abovementioned "Centerfold," and the band's unbridled take on Wilson Pickett's classic "Land of a Thousand Dances."
Historic, entertaining, informative & fun' live album recorded at the Pine Knob Theater in Detroit, Michigan during September of 1982. This 1995 rerelease has been digitally remastered. Showtime (Allegro) CD music
$9.69 Richie Furay is best know as an original member of Buffalo Springfield, Poco and The Souther, Hillman, Furay Band. He issued three solo albums for Asylum Records in the mid-70s. | | Kaada Thank You For Giving Me Your Valuable Time CD (2003)
Showtime (Allegro) music CDs
$13.95 Originally released in 2001, this is the debut album by mysterious Norwegian producer/multi-instrumentalist/sampling whiz Kaada. Despite being widely hailed by critics in Scandinavia, it took Ipecac Records, who discovered the album via an unsolicited copy, for it to finally get a U.S. release in 2003. It's a fitting match, since this album has the same kind of warm, reverb-y production that Ipecac head honcho Mike Patton often favors (see Fantomas' Director's Cut), and has a collage-type avant-garde pop/rock feel that's not a million miles away from something like Director's Cut or Mr. Bungle's California. Then again, it's certainly not beholden to those ...
| | Led Zeppelin How The West Was Won CDs (2003)
Showtime (Allegro) songs
$17.59 In the course of putting together the live Led Zeppelin DVD for 2003 release, Jimmy Page came across some great concert recordings from the band's 1972 stint in California. HOW THE WEST WAS WON is three discs' worth of vintage Zep, far superior to the band's only other live album THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME. Here is the fearsome foursome in all their glory and fury, coming off like crazed rock & roll Vikings on the opening "Immigrant Song," reinventing the blues form on "Heartbreaker," and just plain rocking the doors off the joint on "Rock and Roll" ...
