ASSAULT ATTACK is the third solo album from German hard rock guitarist Michael Schenker, featuring Graham Bonnet of Rainbow on lead vocals and including the single "Rock You To The Ground."
Michael Schenker's pairing with former Rainbow wailer Graham Bonnet made perfect sense, since Schenker's facile, classically flavored Euro metal guitar style is a graceful extension of Ritchie Blackmore's innovations. The results on Assault Attack are pleasing; while Schenker predictably delivers top-notch performances, Bonnet's vocals are edgier and more engaging than those of former MSG singer Gary Barden. [A bonus tracks edition of Assault Attack was released in 2006.] ~ Andy Hinds
Japanese digitally remastered reissue of the heavy metal act's 1982 release. Includes 2 bonus tracks 'Althuer' and 'Girl From Uptown'. 9 tracks in all. 2000 release. Standardjewel case.

dio head bangers !! yes RJD is the classic rock singer !! funny thing is bonnet was equal with him in range and power. period. difference is, bonnet was ( at their peak )more adaptable ? blackmore , malmsteen, schenker & vai ? ive seen some sites saying he was lucky playing with these guys ? nobody is that lucky!!! maybe we should be thinking the reverse ? Pure Gold!!! This is by far the best album by MSG. Graham Bonnet's vocals are superb from start to finish. Michael's riff and guitar work is exceptional. What is forgotten is the incredible background work done by Chris Glen and Ted McKenna, they provide a great support especially on Desert Song. Samuria delivers one of the best solo's you will hear. Rock you to the ground bears all the hallmarks of Schenker song making, the slow and steady progress up to mind blowing finish. Girl from Uptown featured on the "B" side of the single "Dancer" and again shows that MSG can deliver. The Japanese import version includes this on the CD version.
Buy it and enjoy, even if the neighbours won't. Submitted by Dino (Sussex, UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Possibly the most aggressive Possibly Schenker's most aggressive album ever (though UFO's "Force it" is another candidate). When it came out, I rather shunned it because of the singing (too commercial of a singer) but now, I just look (or "listen"!!) past the singing. The Japanese import also contains "Girl From Uptown" and it's worth the extra expense. I try to think of a fave on this one, but pretty much the whole thing ROCKS (excpet "Dancer" but the middle interlude there is worth hearing the rest of the song). Assault Attack
$9.95 This reissue of rocker Michael Schenker Group's 1981 release MSG is digitally remastered and features the tracks "Armed And Ready" and "Cry For The Nations."
After his lengthy stints with the Scorpions and UFO, Michael Schenker could be forgiven for indulging his incendiary fretboard skills throughout the entirety of this 1980 solo debut. Instead, it's a solid group effort that has aged surprisingly well, with Schenker artfully deploying his talents on full-bodied hard rock outings such as the opening "Armed and Ready" and the riff-heavy "Victim of Illusion." Vocalist Gary Barden proves himself more than able to withstand Schenker's pyrotechnics, while the whole enterprise ...

| | Aisha Duo Quiet Songs CD (2005) Reissued
Assault Attack
$13.85 Tuned percussion freaks are going to love this. Aisha Duo is the pairing of Andrea Dulbecco and Luca Gusella, who play marimba and vibraphone, respectively. The aptly named Quiet Songs is almost entirely a duet album, with only a little hint of cello and some unobtrusive Irish-style frame drums in the background of a few songs. (Only on the simply lovely bossa nova-style album closer "Amanda" do the guest instruments take more than a decorative role.) Otherwise, Quiet Songs is nothing but pealing tones from the duo's primary instruments. The ...

Assault Attack
$34.15 Over the years, Christian rock has included just about every rock style imaginable. You've had Christian punk, Christian new wave, Christian pop-metal, Christian industrial rock, Christian arena rock, Christian power metal, Christian thrash metal, Christian rap-metal, Christian goth rock, Christian grunge, Christian post-grunge -- the list goes on. So it should come as no surprise that Christian screamo (as opposed to Christian emo) has its representatives as well. Like UnderOath, Motion Picture Demise has been part of the Christian screamo trend, although Rebuild/Reform doesn't beat listeners over the head with Christianity. Quite the contrary -- listeners really have to dig to find the Christian references on this EP. Motion Picture Demise approaches Christian-inspired lyrics the way UnderOath approaches them: in a subtle, subliminal fashion. Those who haven't researched Motion Picture Demise's history may not pick up on their Christianity at all -- on the surface, they aren't much different from a long list of secular screamo bands that surfaced in the early 2000s. Travis Tucker, the band's lead vocalist, has obviously mastered the clean vocals/screaming vocals contrast that is a main ingredient of screamo (also known as post-hardcore or melodic hardcore). And while some screamo singers do a lot more screaming, Tucker opts to let his clean vocals have the upper hand; Tucker has no problem with tortured, death-all-over-your-face screaming, but his clean side is dominant on Rebuild/Reform. This EP won't win any awards for being distinctive or strikingly original; there are countless other bands with this type of sound, and Motion Picture Demise isn't the first outfit to bring subliminally Christian messages to the screamo/melodic hardcore/post-hardcore field. But Rebuild/Reform is generally competent, and this EP has enough going for it to make listeners want to keep an eye on Motion Picture Demise and see how they develop. ~ Alex Henderson
