| | Stan Getz Getz Plays Jobim: The Girl From Ipanema CD (2002)
Grazie Massimo songs
$8.19 Simply put, here are the most successful 14 cuts covering two years in the collaboration between Stan Getz and Antonio Carlos Jobim, during which both men became accustomed to having hit singles. Unfortunately, only one of them got to ride that horse for the rest of the decade -- in the United States, anyway. Nonetheless, this material marks the Americans obsession with the bossa nova and was the music that made Getz and Jobim household names for a while -- after all, we were just climbing out of the "swinging bachelor pad" music era and still had all those weird hi fi records to explore. Seriously though, the great sensitivity shown by Getz for this material, and the adventurousness of Jobim were a match made in heaven ...

| | Luigi Frisina Dizzy Fingers CD (2007)
Grazie Massimo album
$20.29 Luigi Frisina Luigi Frisina, or Lou as most of his friends know him, came to Australia from Reggio Calabria Italy at the age of 3 and settled in a small town 100 miles south of Perth. He took up playing accordion almost straight away, learning on a small button accordion that his mother had brought from Italy for his oldest brother who showed no interest at all. Lou began playing by ear at first but that proved no obstacle to him getting out a tune and he was often seen busking for the patrons outside the local hotel. At the age of 12 he began to study under the watchful eye of Dave Krygger in Perth, travelling some 200 miles to and from Wokalup each week for lessons. At the age of 18 he was selected to appear on Hector Crawford's "Showcase" in Melbourne. Lou then played in various venues around Perth for the next 30 years. With the onslaught of the electronic age, Lou's Super Six Scandalli ended up under the staircase for the next 10 years. In recent times Dave Krygger started the Perth Accordion Club and interest in the instrument started to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. With the encouragement of his friend Ugo Bartolomei, another accordion fanatic, ...
| | London Saxophonic Sax Pax For A Sax CD (1994) (Import)
Grazie Massimo CD music
$17.09 SAX PAX FOR A SAX, written primarily for saxophones and recorded with the London Saxophonic, was Moondog's last major release during his lifetime. This set adds nicely to the small body of classical compositions for the saxophone. The album is broad and varied, including lushly arranged reeds and Moondog's customary rhythmic foundations.
The set also includes "Paris," a delightful vocal number later covered by NRBQ (on their YOU GOTTA BE LOOSE album), and "D for Danny." The latter was written for bass player Danny Thompson, Moondog's longtime friend, who also performs on the piece. "Bird's Lament" is a gorgeously ethereal number with a potent emotional core, written in honor of the legacy and memory of Charlie Parker. "Present for the Prez" evokes the spirit of Lester Young. "Sea Horse" and "Fiesta," ...
